    Little Things 11-12

    Chapter 9

At almost two months, Tina had her first scan done.  As Dr. Wilson guided the cold wand across her stomach and she watched the image, her thoughts were brought back to the last time she had this done, with Bette beside her holding her hand.  Afterward, they made passionate love – one of the best sessions they had ever had.  Tina exhaled.  That wouldn’t be the case this time, she reminded herself and frowned.

Movement on the screen suddenly brought her attention back to the present.

“Oh my gosh, it seems so much harder to make out what’s what this time around.”  Tina commented as she concentrated on the images on the monitor.

“Well, there’s a reason for that, Tina” Dr. Wilson hesitated.  “its because there are two.”

Tina’s jaw dropped.  There was no way she was prepared for this news and she was in too much shock to say anything except “Oh my God”

“Are you alright?”  Dr. Wilson asked.

Tina took a deep calming breath. “I guess I’ll have to be.”  Tina answered honestly.  “no. I’m sorry.” She squeezed Dr. Wilson’s hand. “I will be once I get used to it.  Them” she corrected and smiled slightly.

Dr. Wilson had always enjoyed Bette and Tina.  The latter always so polite and kind.  She had no idea why Bette wasn’t here with Tina but learned over the years, not to ask certain questions.  She just hoped that given the news, Bette would be at the next session.

Tina got to her car and rather than start for home, just sat with her head resting on the steering wheel.  She trained herself to try to relax although she was still in shock and more than a little scared.  The first thing that came to mind was Bette.  She needed to talk to her to discuss the impacts on Angle and even Bette.

She reached over to her bag and brought out her cellphone.

    “Hi Tina” Bette greeted.

    “Hi Bette.”

Bette heard the strain in her voice.  “Tina are you ok?”

“I’m ok, but I really need to meet with you.  Are you busy tonight?” she asked hopefully.

    1. Robbi…this is so good. Bette will now tell Jodi that she can’t allow Tina to have twins on her own. She’ll dump Jodi….at least in my world she will.

    2. Thank you for posting so many chapters in a short period of time. I love your story, and I hope season 5 will be similar to this where slowly but surely Bette realizes Tina is the only one for her. PPS.

    3. sigh– I just wish bette would just realize that it is Tina who makes her happy, but she’s slowly coming to that conclusion herself and that’s the way it needs to be. Thanks for another great read!

    4. “Rarely did she think of Jodi and Bette without admonishing herself for telling Bette that load of bunk to try to give Bette the courage to go after Jodi. Truth be told, she didn’t understand how two people with such similar personalities could ever be good for one another. And from what she saw of Jodi and Bette’s chemistry, or lack of it, she still didn’t.” …not only are you a great storyteller, you are an excellent revisionist editor as well!!! …And yes, Bette needs to be a part of this (these) new lives. She missed Angie’s. I’d love to see two women joyfully sharing an entire pregnancy, not just the last few minutes before birth. Thanks!
