    LOVE AND PRIDE — Chapter 76

     

     

    “Okay you two – I will see you in the common room at about noon “

     

    Helena grabbed her bag and hurried out of the house

     

    “Who put the rocket up my sister’s ass?” Bette asked looking up from her book as she lay on the sofa still in shorts and a thin tee-shirt. She glanced at the clock on the wall – 8:15am

     

    “I think she’s meeting someone for breakfast “Tina replied who was lying on the floor reading one of her study files

     

    “And who might that be and why hasn’t she mentioned it to me?”

     

    Tina shrugged “I overheard her talking to Shane yesterday afternoon “

     

    “So are you not supposed to know about this?”

     

    “I’m not sure “

     

    Bette frowned “Think she’s met someone?”

    “It’s none of our business “

    “It is when we have to pick the pieces up again”

     

     

    “Helena has shown a lot of strength of character after what happened two weeks ago – it was a lot for her to deal with “

     

    “She’s thrown herself into the arrangements for doing the properties up “

     

    “And you haven’t ?” Tina teased “ You were so into it last night you missed two revision periods “

     

    “Well I didn’t like the quotes we had for furniture – I am not an idiot “

    “No one said that you were “

    “Maybe we could go to that big DIY store and see how much it would cost to buy flat pack furniture “

     

    “And who would put them up ?”

    “Well I remember that one of us is brilliant with a screwdriver in her hand “

     

    Tina smiled “True – but she would need an assistant “

    “I would happily assist you in anything that I could “

     

    Tina raised an eyebrow at Bette.

     

    “Well now that you mention it “

     

    “Yeessss “

     

    “I have an ache “

     

    “Really ?”

     

    “Yes “

    “And how bad is it?”

    “It’s severe “

     

    “Oh honey “

     

    Bette put her book down and sat up

     

    “What can I do for you ?”
