Love and Pride Chapter 38
Helena could see that Tina was pretty surprised by her words. She had been genuinely shocked and appalled that anyone could reject their own child because of their sexuality. She had never for one minute expected her mother to give her a hard time because of her decision. She had expected, and got a hard time because Peggy thought she was acting like a tart but never because of her fundamental realisation that she preferred women to men.
Furthermore she really believed that Bette and Tina really were meant to be a couple. They suited each other emotionally, physically if Bette’s comments were true and intellectually – and she wanted them to be together and to be happy. Bette deserved to be happy and so did Tina.
Tina smiled at Helena
“Thank you – it means a lot to me “
“Everything is going to be fine – she’s been worried sick about you “
Bette grinned with pride as she watched the gesture of friendship from her sister. Helena really seemed to have changed since she had returned home. Maybe she was starting to see how much work she was going to have to put in to catch up on her studies so she could get the good degree she needed.
Peggy emerged from the sitting room and saw the scene between the three girls. She was proud of Helena for managing to deal with her feelings and allow Bette to be with her woman.
“Tina this is my mother Peggy Peabody “
Tina turned to the woman she had spoken to on the phone the day before – the woman who had been so supportive.
“Mrs Peabody – thank you for everything you have done for me. I can never repay you “
“Tina dearest – it was nothing. I am so glad you are here”
Peggy took Tina by the hand and hugged her
“You are more than welcome here “
“Thank you so much Mrs Peabody “
“Well first of all – call me Peggy and my dear – I would never turn away someone who is so dear to Bette as well as Helena – how are you?”

Bette inherit the charm of her father i like this Melvin a lot! I know that Tina needs some time to put her mind clear but she should talk to Bette about how she feels and what really happens. thanks for this sweet post.
Does Kit exist in this story? Glad Tina is feeling a little better. I know Bette is in love with Tina but trying to take on all the responsiblity of keeping Tina happy is a lot for a 18 year old. Hope it doesn’t get to be too much for her.
Okay, Ally, I bow to you… Totally worth the wait! Talking about this wonderful kiss, and this even hotter repeat in the bedroom. You sure know how to treat us! … Wow, this must feel like a totally different world to Tina, but I guess it’s a great way for her to be shown that she is worthy, and a wonderful person to be welcomed in any family. After all, it’s not as if she had just been rejected by the “model” family, and beyond the rejection, she can also witness what a “real” family should be. And their wealth doesn’t have much to do with it… But then again, there is this great added bonus in this particular family, called Bette Porter. Don’t think any other family could really compete with that…
I love curves too!! – sigh… I also just caught up on the last two L Wing chapters…(which was literally the second after I’d dropped my suitcase near the front door, smooched my dog and stormed into my room to switch the laptop on)… my God, the first one was so sweet and the second one just proved you’re indeed a queen of drama… for some reason, I’m sniffing a whiff of cheating here – Helena’s so nice and all… but I cross my fingers that it’s just my wicked imagination

Well, I must say this story keeps getting better and better with each new chapter for me. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’ve loved this story right from the very beginning, really, I’ve always loved it, but I confess I’m really enjoying the kind of drama you’re adding here and there, Ally, and I can’t wait for Bette to find out what really happened to Tina when she came out to her mom, for instance. I must be a masochist, I guess… LOL ! Oh, and I sure hope we’ll get a glimpse of the grumpy Melvin. I’m sure he must be funny when he’s in a bad mood. As for Helena, well, for some reason, I believe Bette and more importantly here, Tina, are going to help her studying for her degree. Am I right ? At least, I think Tina is going to offer her help since they both study law. Anyway, this was another great chappie, Ally. Thanks a lot for sharing this wonderful story with us. How talented you are is still beyond me !
Melvin you “sly fox”. How charming to bring all the ladies in your life roses including the newest member of the family. Very Classy! I felt bad for Helena being put on the spot about her grades at school in front of Tina. Peggy really embarassed her, but I guess she had it coming. College is alot of fun, but you are there to get an education, so pull your head out of the sand Helena…and crack the books. PPS.
They are so cute, T better talk about the bruises soon becuz I’m not sure how long b4 Bette can resist making love…hope Helena gets out of the poo, don’t want her resenting B and T becuz they are daddy and mummy’s favorites…

Wonderful chapter Ally…Tina has to be on cloud nine…I hope they can take her mind off her situation even if for a little bit…she may have lost a family but they have shown her she has gained another. I can’t wait to read more.

I agree with Rau and I hope that Tina tells Bette about the bruises before she accidentaly discover them herself. Melvin is great, he even has them married or at least a perminant couple already. Now that’s what I call being accepted. Great job Ally :o)
