Love In Control – Chapter I – Savannah (Part 1)

The woman smirked, at first, and then a look of concern crossed her face, taking note of the heavy breathing coming from Rian. Her finger moved to the tabs that controlled the exercise level of the machine.

“You’re doing yourself more harm than good, my trainer said,” the woman added, and Rian could see her large brown eyes were conducting a quick check of Rian: they conveyed a growing concern. Rian was still looking confusedly back at the woman, caught in the cross-hairs of large brown eyes and an unaffected aristocratic air: damn, this chick is gorgeous and her eyes are mesmerizing … wait! What did she say?  More harm than good?  And what the hell is going on with my heart?  It feels like it’s beating a hundred miles a minute!

The woman took charge without asking, gently laying a soft hand on Rian’s hand, as if to signal to her that she was about to adjust the settings of the treadmill. She looked steadily, directly into Ryan’s eyes, “I think you’re not able to handle this speed right now, and you don’t seem ok….I can help you unless you’d rather I don’t.”

“Your trainer said …?” Rian asked hoarsely, remaining a step behind in the conversation.

The woman nodded, waited for a beat, noted Rian still hadn’t refused her help, and went ahead to adjust the level, lowering it by a quarter to 7.45. That’s considerate. Not a sudden change.  I can manage that, Rian thought.

Then after ten seconds, the level dropped by another quarter to 7.30, ten second pause, 7.15, ten seconds, 7. Rian swiveled her eyes away from the arresting ones of this beautiful stranger to sneak a peek at the control panel of the treadmill, still holding onto the arms of the treadmill, and automatically adjusted her running pace as the levels steadily decreased.

“Where’s your trainer?” In her confusion, Rian still couldn’t come up with anything else.  Like, stay away from my treadmill, will you? Or, you brought your trainer with you here?  They worked together like this, adjusting and readjusting in sync, until the level got to 5, and Rian had eased into the more manageable jogging pace that the woman had set.  The woman didn’t answer immediately, her eyes continuing to observe Rian, apparently waiting for Rian to signal that she was breathing more easily.

    1. Where to start Skydancer……..? You’ve taken us on some wonderful journeys, introducing us to your alluring cast of characters. In addition to your version of Bette and Tina (which I absolutely adore), you’ve let us have a front row seat into the lives of Aerin, Harley, Jade, and Rian, each deep, rich characters in their own right. Now you’ve started us on this new, exciting journey with your ensemble cast, that will hopefully end with each in control of their loves and their destinies.

I hope that when Rian finds that switch to her spotty memories, she’s ready for the consequences. Like the saying goes, “Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.”

By the way, my mind is in overdrive with Bette at a golf course resort. Please make Bette, as she is in every other facet of her life, an excellent golfer with a low handicap. The differing sets of tees and handicap system combine to make the game an even playing field no matter the player or the location. In my opinion, there’s nothing sexier than a woman who can conquer a traditional man’s game and put a cocky man in his place. Oh, and tight golf capris won’t hurt either….just sayin’.

I’ll be sure to grab the popcorn and a nice glass of Pinot Noir before reading your next chapter. Anxiously awaiting.
