Love in the South – Chapter 20

Tina and Bette went into Tina’s room and Tina shut the door behind her.  Bette pushed Tina up against the door and gave her a passionate kiss.  Tina returned the kiss to Bette, walked her over to the bed, sat her down, and Tina kneeled down beside her.

“We need to talk,” Tina stated.

    TBC…

Bette sat there stunned.  “What do we need to talk about?” she asked.

“Bette,” Tina looked up into her eyes.  “I want you right now more than anything in this world, but I want our first time back together to be special, a time that we will never forget.”

“I want that too, T,” Bette said softly, looking in Tina’s eyes.  “If you’re not ready for this, then say so.  I’ll sleep on the floor.”

“No, Bette,” Tina stated.  “Baby, I just don’t want either of us to get hurt and I definitely don’t want to put the kids through all the pain.”

“T,” Bette said and lifted Tina’s eyes to her own, “I feel the same way you do, but if we don’t put our pasts behind us, then what kind of future will we have?  I am willing to put our pasts behind us and start fresh.  What about you?”

“I am too Bette,” Tina said seeing the deep feelings in Bette’s eyes that only she could see.  “The past is the past and that’s where it should be.  We are starting fresh and new with a ready made family.”

Bette giggled, “One more girl and we’d have the Brady Bunch.”

Tina laughed, got up off the floor, and sat down on the bed next to Bette.  “I just don’t want to rush this, us.”

“T,” Bette paused, “I don’t want to rush us either, but what Dana said on that tape was true.  I mean, come on, how long have you been in New Orleans?”

“About 10 years now,” Tina replied.

“About as long as I have,” Bette nodded.  “And you never knew about my studio?  I named it Portard Galleries.”

Tina laughed at the name.  “I never heard of it.  Where is it located?”

“It’s located on River Street,” Bette answered.  “It has a very scenic, historic view of the Mississippi River, very romantic.  You should come see it sometime.”
