Love Soul Heaven Hell – Chapter I
“KAL flight to Cochin now boarding at gate B22," the male voice intoned again.
Bette and Tina had just arrived in Dubai International Airport from JFK. They were traversing the airport to get to the first class lounge nearest the gate of the connecting flight they were taking to Hyderabad.
"How big is this airport anyway, baby?," Tina asked, in a tired and irked voice.
"It’s huge T. Like a town, almost," Bette answered, and nodded her head in agreement, sympathetically. All the major airports in the Middle East, and all over Asia were city-sized, ultra-modern.
“You mean a city, maybe," Tina continued, grumbling a bit.
Bette gave her a sideways smile, and then stepped out of the glass elevator. It’s true, the airport was expansive, and Bette figured they’d walked the equivalent of under two miles, maybe, since leaving the
jetway that connected their flight to the huge terminal. Airports in the US and Europe were comparatively smaller, and did not lead to as much walking around for travelers who needed to connect to outbound flights.
Their plane had landed at the other end of the Dubai airport, and they had to traverse almost the length of the airport to get to the next terminal, in order to catch their connecting flight to Hyderabad.
They were finally on their way to start their honeymoon, but were taking a quick stop in Hyderabad, India, first, to enable Bette to meet with a tech firm that specialized in servers for cloud service providers. The firm had come highly recommended by Arvind, and he’d said the firm was preparing to call for a round of investment capital to finance its expansion.
Arvind’s call to Bette had taken place two weeks earlier, as the couple relaxed in the kitchen in their new home, preparing to eat breakfast they’d fixed together, after Angelica’s sitter had come by to take Angie to a playgroup.
“Hi Bette. Sorry to interrupt your weekend morning,” he started.
“No..no..no problem at all Arvind,” Bette responded, as she dusted Tina’s cappuccino with chocolate powder.
“What’s up? Anything happen over there?,” she continued, as she carefully laid a slim dark chocolate piece across the saucer on which Tina’s cappuccino sat. She walked over to Tina, who was arranging sliced strawberries over Bette’s waffles. As Bette laid Tina’s cappuccino next to the blonde’s plate, she saw Tina had formed a heart shape with the strawberries over the brunette’s waffle plate.
