    revisiting realization

                As Bette stepped from the elevator she felt as though her legs could give way at any second as the finality of the situation landed a harsh blow on her soul.  Her world as she knew it no longer existed, having exploded directly as a result of her affair with Candace.  She struggled to control the overwhelming feeling of nausea that threatened to take control over her body.  Clasping her hand tightly to her mouth, she ran to the bathroom.  Her thought began to race wildly, torn between reality and reasoning.  She allowed herself to think that the real reason that Tina wanted to keep her pregnancy a secret was that she was already involved with this mystery person.  Closing her eyes the vision of Tina on the arm of another woman played over and over in her mind and she became violently ill.

     

                            Sheri gently took Tina’s hand and led her across the room and into the bed.  Tina was silently willing herself to continue to breath, the look on Bette’s face had suddenly catapulted Tina back in time.  The look had been one of realization realization that whatever preconceived notion there was of the future it had all ended at that very second.  It was the end of one journey the journey of what might have been, what should have been.  “Tina I’m going to leave now.  I think that it is best if you try to get some rest, said Sheri as she leaned over and gently kissed the top of Tina’s head.  If you need anything, please call me.”  Tina continued to stare vacantly at her hands which where folded on her lap.  Sheri was not even sure that Tina was aware that she had spoken to her let alone known what she said.  As she walked toward the door, she stopped and turned to Alice and said, “You’ll take care of her, right?”  Alice nodded her head in agreement.  As the door closed Tina’s sobs grew louder.  Alice stood quietly torn between the need to try and comfort Tina and her need to find Bette.  Alice looked at Tina and said, “Now what?  How the ***** can two people who love each other as much as the two of you manage to constantly tear each other apart.  Without even trying, I might add.  Why did you not tell her Tina?  I’m trying to understand but I just don’t get it.  I know things have been crazy, but Bette deserved to know the truth before she came in here and had it rubbed in her nose!  Were you just trying to get even with Bette?  Hurt her the way she had hurt you?”  Tina looked at Alice as she yelled, “She cheated on me Alice, she did it, not me!  All of the sudden everything is poor, poor Bette.  How do you think that makes me feel Alice?  I did not even want her to know about the baby but you saw to it that she did!”  “Don’t go there Tina! Alice yelled.  What were we supposed to do?  Should we have just sat back and God forbid one of you had died – then what?!  We can barely look Bette in the eye now after being apart of this big cover -up of yours so I can only imagine having to tell her that you had died giving birth to the child she knew absolutely nothing about.  None of this is fair Tina, but what’s done is done.  We did what we thought we should do; it wasn’t about hurting you or Bette.” Alice said angrily.   She flung the door open angrily and headed out to try to find Bette.

    2. Tina can’t have a girlfriend and at the same time blame Bette for not fighting for her and their daughter. That’s unfair and not the way to solve their problem.

    4. Wow!!! This is so real. It’s amazing how powerful emotions are that they crowd out all the smarts and intelligence that people have. I hope that Bette and Tina can start to communicate. You are good at this. Post more soon. I’m waiting.(smile)

    12. WOW…Al is really being a great friend to both Bette & Tina. They need to “hear” what Al is saying to them, because they are both trying to make important decisions based on assumptions. Al should lock them in a room together so that they can talk. Excellent chapter…please continue.

    13. yeah for alice standing up to both girls–this was sad for i feel for bette more i always thought they should of stayed together and work thro this tina ran just like bette did– i hope you have one or both at like adults and talk
