Love’s Recovery
Bette stared out of her bedroom window as the sun began to set. The shades of pink and orange that lit up the sky instantly reminded her of a particular water color painting that her mother had done when Bette was young. Her thoughts drifted back to when she had watched her mother, mesmerized by the strokes of the paintbrush, and vowed she would become a painter herself. She remembered how ceremoniously her father had handed her that same painting, and she had hung it at the CAC as a reminder of the passion and love that can and should surround art. Bette closed her eyes for a moment, leaning against the wall with her arms crossed over her chest, allowing the memory of her mother’s voice singing to Angelica wash over her. Seeing her daughter in her mother’s arms reminded Bette of that feeling, the warmth she felt when her mother held her and sang away her concerns and sadness.
“Penny for your thoughts?” Tina walked up behind Bette as she placed her hands on Bette’s back. She could feel the tension residing in Bette’s muscles and she spent a few moments in silence rubbing Bette’s tight muscles, trying to provide relief. “Given your silence I would assume inflation has already kicked in and a penny isn’t enough?”
Bette smiled and leaned back into Tina’s body for support. She tried to relax, something that had seemed impossible earlier in the day, but something that she felt was achievable in Tina’s arms.
“I was thinking about a painting that my mother did when I was little,” Bette finally answered honestly. “It had the same type of coloring and brush strokes that the sky has. When I was fired from the CAC I packed it in a box and haven’t looked at it since.”
“Come sit with me.” Tina took Bette by the hand and walked toward their bed, pulling her down to sit and watching the last spectacular display of color as the sun dipped below the horizon. “Angelica was so tired; she was asleep before I even got to the second verse of her song.”
“Thanks, I just thought she would sense the tension if I went in there and lord knows she didn’t need to cry again. I appreciate you handling that by yourself tonight.” Bette paused and then closed her eyes, shaking her head in anger. When she opened her eyes, she was staring back into Tina’s eyes, seeing love and concern reflecting back at her. “I shouldn’t let Maxine interfere with my life that way. She shouldn’t keep me from my family. I’m sorry.”

I hope that Bette will open her mind and heart and listen to Maxine. If then she still doesn’t want her in their lives so be it, but at least she will know the truth. Otherwise I fear that down the road she will regret cutting Maxine out of all their lives. Bette and Tina = sexy in love. :-) What a wonderful feeling to know you are loved by the one who centers you. Thanks Gumby for posting! I have been anxiously waiting your return! (Water parks? Does that mean bikinis? Possibly pictures? LOL)
Welcome back, Gumby! Have missed this story -PPS!
I have missed this story. Thanks for updating.
Glad you posted again. I love this excellent story
Since they have talked and Tina tried valiantly to reason with Bette regarding Maxine, hopefully Bette will allow her mother to talk with her. Bette needs to hear what she has to say and try to understand what she had gone thru. Bette knows full well that her father only saw things the way he wanted and there was only his version, no one else’s mattered to him, even if he was wrong and Bette knows that. She should give her mother the benefit of doubt and listen very carefully to what she has to say. I have no doubt at all what Maxine and Kit have said is the truth. Bette should really listen to her or she will forever be sorry she didn’t. It’s hard to say what a person that is deceased would say now but knowing her father, she should just assume that the others are telling the truth. Wonderful chapter. So happy you have come back to us with more. Hope your time away was beneficial to you and your family. Life can be very hard and unforgiving. Thanks again for posting.
Tina has a wonderful way of tending to Bette’s needs both physical and emotional. Hopefully now Bette will have that long over due talk with her mother. Thanks to proofie for her hard work.
Hope you had a great vacation! This chapter reflected a serious conversation that we rarely see in FF or the TV show. One that shows growth for Bette, and love and support by Tina. This Tibette reflects a deep mature love. Thanks for showing how wonderful they are together…even when struggling to come to terms with life’s trials. Kudos to you!

Welcome back Gumby! You’ve been misses. PPS
Welcome back. That was a great update!!! Love this story, looking forward to more.
Just absolutely wonderful. thank you for posting. Welcome back have missed this story. Thank you!
I’ve been sitting here for the past hour or so catching up on this story. Great story and so well written. Bette being hardheaded about this makes for a great story but it’s sad at the same time. I hope that she can work through her anger and her deep feeling of rejection and abandonment. At least she has people around her who offer she wise counsel. We never get to a point that we don’t need a mother. Mine has been gone for seven years now. And sometimes it bothers me to hear people complain about their mothers about little stupid things that can be work through when I would be glad to have mine around to work through crap with myself. I certain you’ll help Bette work through her own crap. Because that’s what it is she has to do, work through her own issues. And what a beautiful way to end Bette and Tina’s stressful conversation. So of the most beautiful moments come from comforting someone we love.
So so great that you´re back.
Amazing story.PPS
At this point in the story it has been an amazing ride, with the understanding of why each person made the decision that was made with the information that was available at the time. Bette has a right to be angry and hesitate in her acceptance of Maxine, and it is great that Tina is there for her woman. And of course Angie is just the best icing on this gem of a tale.
