Tina gulps. “Please, lead the way” ‘Oh my god, why do I feel nervous?’

Bette stops and pushes open the first door. “This would be your room” She steps back allowing Tina to enter.

“This is lovely, seriously you should have seen some of the places I looked at.” Tina turns back to Bette who is standing in the doorway leaning against the frame.

The brunette hadn’t been listening. Her mind instead had instantly filled with all of the nasty and delicious things she could do to Tina in this bed, or even better in her own bed. ‘Oh my god Bette, she’s straight, and you’re doing this for her own good, stop thinking sex, stop thinking sex.’ Bette hadn’t realized she’d zoned out until she saw a hand waving in front of her face.

“Ummm yes?” Bette responded, eyes wide.

Tina was giggling. “You OK there?”

“Yes I’m fine thanks, I just have a lot on my mind. Let me show you the bathroom”, ‘there’s no way I’m showing you my room’ Bette decides.
 
They continue looking around the house, every now and then exchanging awkward glances, and doing some mild flirting. “So what do you think?” Bette finally asks.

“Bette I love it. I mean your house is beautiful. But it is so far out of my price range.”

“I don’t believe we have discussed rent yet” Bette says confidently. They begin to discuss bills and the monthly rent.

“Bette are you sure, I mean you’re not taking pity on me or anything are you? It does seem incredibly low” Tina asks, hoping this wouldn’t offend Bette.

“Oh please, Tina. Give me some credit, I’m not that nice” Bette winks, thinking sadistically ‘Oh if only you knew’. “Besides sometimes I go away on business, and it would be nice to have someone to keep an eye on the house”.

“Oh, so really what you want is a human burglar alarm?” Tina teases.
 
“Yes, you see. So in fact you are doing me a favor” Bette responds.

“What about the other person coming at 8.30?” Tina asks.

“Well if you are interested I will call her straight away and let her know the room has gone.”

“I guess you had better make that call then” Tina grins.

“Fantastic” Bette returns the grin. “Well I shall get some contracts drawn up then. So when do you want to move?”

“Umm, I’m ready when you are”

“How does Saturday sound?”

“Perfect” Tina grins excitedly.

“We have a deal then” Bette reaches out her hand. Tina looks down and reaches out, the instant their hands meet they both feel it.

Tina pulls away. “Well I had better go”

Bette nods, noticing the cute blush on Tina’s face and neck. “How are you getting back?”

“I checked the bus route, it drops off not far from my friends house. It’s only about 30 minutes.”

“Rubbish, I will drive you” Bette grabs her keys.

“Bette really it’s fine”

“Tina”

“Bette, you know you’re gonna have to resist the urge to mother me when I move in here.”

‘Some people need to be mothered’ Bette thinks. “I’m sorry, you’re right. Just be safe”.

“I’m always safe” Tina winks, picking up her bag.

“Hmmm” Bette walks to the door. “So do you know where you’re going?”

Tina steps out, “Yep, it’s just there look” Tina points at the bus stop across the road. “I bet you’ve never even caught it have you”.

“One tries to avoid public transport”.

“Snob”

“Hey, watch it blondey. Do you not remember what I taught you earlier?” Both knowing Bette is referring to respecting elders.

“I have no idea what you mean.” Tina states innocently stepping backwards down the path. “So Saturday, is 11ish OK?”

“Perfect. I shall see you then.”

“Great, see you then ‘mam’” Tina says with a wave quickly turning.

‘Oh this is going to be fun’ Bette thinks watching the blonde bounce down the path.
