Lucky in Love (Chapter 23)

The rhythms of a hospital are predictable and not necessarily meant to accommodate the patients. Medications are administered around the clock, doctors round twice a day, and interns and residents stream in an out at all hours in preparation and with follow up. Tests must be run, often in other departments. Nurses, phlebotomists, aids, therapists and assorted other members of the medical team squeeze their work in around those schedules. The bottom line is that being a patient can be exhausting, something both Dana and Alice had forgotten.
After she woke up, the first order of the day was to assess Alice’s hip for amount of muscle, tendon and ligament damage caused by the dislocation. The goal was to get her ambulatory as soon as possible, preferably before the end of the day. Though she would have preferred to rest, Alice also wanted to get rid of the foley catheter and knew from Dana’s experience that walking a few feet was what she had to do make it happen. She tried her best to disguise her pain as they transferred her to the gurney that would carry her off to her CAT scan. That momentary flash of pain was not lost on Dana, making her more intensely aware of just how little she could do to make Alice feel better. Alice held up her hand to stop at the door and motioned for Dana.
“What is it?” Dana asked quickly. “What can I do for you Al?”
Alice offered a small smile as she saw the exhaustion etched into Dana’s expression. She extended her hand and when Dana took it, she pulled her closer for a kiss.
“Sleep,” she mouthed. “Sleep, baby.”
“I will,” Dana lied and knew Alice knew. She smiled and kissed her again. “I’ll be here when you get back.”
Lara heard Wilson and Jun Ying laughing in another room and felt Helena slip out of her arms. Helena had been so wound up, her emotions driven by fear and guilt, that she’d been unable to sleep after they got back to Malibu. They’d spent hours talking about what Helena should tell the children and if Winnie’s meltdown meant that she should be out of their lives permanently. Lara was amazed that Helena would even entertain the question. She’d known that Helena was a good mother, but hadn’t truly understood it until she helped her try to sort through what was best for the children and how that might best be accommodated.

Hey thanks!!! Love how Carmen held her tongue there, she wouldn’t have in S3. Yeah, mid-terms were two weeks ago; school started in August so we’re a bit ahead. Fortunately now all I have to do is papers until December’s finals. I love the story, and Winnie definitely got what she deserved; though I do feel bad for the kids. Winnie is their Mom after all, even if she is a raving psycho.
Awesome…Loved that Dana too care of business…Will there be a Danish Wedding in the future…could be fun…Great Work as always!
My highlight was of course Dana punching Winnie!! But the entire chapter was really good. Keep it up, feels like more happy Danish on the way!
Result! You go, Dana! I don’t know how she got out of jail so fast, but Winnie has only gotten the barest bit of what she deserves. Shane… she’s got a lot of growing to do, and a lot of feet to take out of her mouth. Al and Dana, just sweet. Ace! Keep posting!
Loved it! Great update. I knew that Dana would have a mean right hook. She just needed to be provoked. Totally hot! “Consider that your restraining order,” Haha, I loved that. The whole hi-tech set-up? Way better than a dry-erase board…except for not being able to smell the markers…unless the screen was “scratch and sniff” or something. That would be cool! Anyway, I guess it’s good to have friends with money. “Thank you Peggy.” Great job. I can’t wait for more. I’m also hoping for a speedy recovery for Alice ;)

It’s so great to wake up to an update. I loved Dana clocking Winnie, and Alice getting everyone’s attention by throwing her pillow, and hitting Shane in the head.

Okay, Dana punching Winnie was awesome. Even better than if she’d knocked her out with a tennis racket. Oh, and about Winnie being in the hospital…there’s no way in hell she’d be allowed. I had a case like that a couple years ago that I was doing research for (yay law courses) and some crazy bitch attacked her ex-boyfriend’s new girl. She tried to go apologize while the girl was getting stitches, and was arrested on the spot. So yeah. I don’t know why I just told you that, but meh. Dana’s damn good security, but Al better get a restraining order as soon as she’s outta there. Dana too…since Winnie holds grudges. I hope you either ship her to Abu Dabi or kill her off. And poor Shane. What is it with people on this show not being able to talk about things? Seriously. They all need group therapy three times a week or so. And there ya go, that’s my babble quotient for the day and it’s only 8am. Oh yeah, and I loved it as always.

Dude! I feel like such a fan girl everytime I see you’ve posted – I do a ridiculous *happy jig* it’s semi pathetic I know but this story makes me happy so whatev. I totally enjoyed Dana going ‘Mama said knock you out’ on EvvvilWinnie – she so had it coming. I’m a bit disturbed – I’m completely crushing on PeggyP – It’s odd right?
Right so this story gets more intriguing by the letter I am so addicted that I am literally shaking like a crack addicted junky. I love that Dana laid the big daddy smack down on Winnie, it’s that blind anger that’s very agressive and sexual lmao. I like that you have Shane working through her problems, and having other people recognize her problems and call her out. I can’t tell you how much it bothers me that no one finds anything remotely wrong with the things that she does. Sure she’s not as overtly fucked up as Jenny but in her own way she really is pretty equal….just no where near as annoying. But I digress, great job maybe you can help me out on my stories, I’ve hit a bit of a block. PS
