Lucky in Love (Chapter 26)

It’s surprising just how fast the human body heals. Not a year before, Dana Fairbanks had literally died and here she was, the very picture of health and full of energy, her wit and her endearing goofiness making her an instant hit as ESPN’s newest color commentator. And on this very day, exactly one week after she had been minutes away from death a cold marble floor, Alice Pieszecki Fairbanks was making good time with a regular cane as she hurried from the doctor’s office, with Beth Kenyon on her heels.
“You got the all clear, I presume,” Beth said as she caught up and opened the door to her Range Rover.
“I’m still supposed to limit my talking,” Alice said wryly, “but, let’s face it, their ideas about what limited means and my reality are worlds apart. We’ll see just how much at my appointment next week. And, yeah, I did, so let’s go get him.”
“Can you believe these numbers?” Tina looked at the fax again. “Babe, if these projections are right At Wit’s End is breaking box office records. It’s unbelievable.”
“I’m so proud of you,” Bette said from the floor where she and Angelica were engaged in a major construction project. Rather, Angelica was doing the building, but required Bette’s undivided attention as she hoisted her brightly colored blocks into a growing wall.
“This means Shaolin really can make the kind of films Helena and I talked about from that very first day.” Tina resumed her position next to Bette.
“I thought the funding you secured earlier this week meant that,” Bette smiled and kissed her.
“Is that a Hershey’s Kiss I taste?” Tina ran her lips invitingly over Bette’s. “You sneak. And, no the funding meant we could keep making movies, but the success of At Wit’s End means we can make the kind of movies we want to make.”
“Well, how about I take my girls out for dinner tonight to celebrate?” Bette produced another Hershey’s kiss and gave to Tina when Angelica turned to retrieve more blocks. “I’m in the mood for some old school Italian.”
“Palermo’s it is,” Tina said. Angelica looked up and clapped happily. She shared Bette and Tina’s fondness for the delightfully kitschy neighborhood restaurant.

Well, it seems Shane really is convinced she’s going to hurt her, so she’s dumped Carmen. Right. I guess if she feels the magic isn’t there, then it’s for the best, but gosh, she needs to stop being so scared. She’s holding back, to the detriment of herself and whoever she’s going to be with, Carmen or someone else. As for the others, cuteness! Al and Dana have warped Dave’s fragile puppy innocence… tsk tsk. Post soon!
Oh damn, I love this drama between Shane and Carmen. I hope that Carmen won´t give up on Shane and that she´ll guide Shane through this hard time.Awesome job as usual!!!
LMAO great way to finish off the chapter, I know that I’ve said this before but I find it amazing that you can get me to read Tibette, they’re usually a snorefest for me but you’ve got me intrigued. Great chapter I can’t wait for the next…a little baby Danish? So fucking cute, I’m guessing if Alice has the baby they can use some Howie sperm…if that’s not too weird which it kind of is lmao post soon I’ll be waiting anxiously
Another wondeful chapter – as you know I am a total Danish freak, but the way you write the other characters is so good, that I am intrigued by all of their relationships. Worried about Shane and hope she comes good. Lara and Helena do ‘fit’ and even Bette and Tina have a great storyline – but of course, I am looking forward to an additon to the threesome of our Danish girls and Dave. Look forward to more as quickly as you can write it.
Yeah…I would go on and on about the high quality of this chapter…but I would be repeating myself…so go read every other comment I have left you and apply it to this one…times 3. I’m not sure why multiplying it three times will do the trick…but it seemed like a good idea a few seconds ago…so anyways…wow. This is was great…and I am hooked and can’t get enough of this…thanks for the Danish lovin’…this was brilliant…now times that all by three as well. lol PPS
OMG!! Did I just read that Shane broke up with Carmen??….double-checked and yes I did!! That’s just sooo wrong. And the not-having-a-bond thing, Shane must be really confused right?? And what a comment from Carmen at the end!! Right in Shanes face!! But please, bring them back together again??
I can’t believe people are bored with Bette & Tina. You have to love this couple they have come thru some tough sh*t and are wonderful mothers to a beautiful daughter. Both are doing well in their careers and when Sammy writes it can be hot as hell in the bedroom. *2 snaps up and a circle*…lol…and a neck roll…

Being one of the last people to comment … you’ve heard it all before. I loved this chapter & all the Danish lovin’. Can’t wait to see what the fall out is going to be for Beth when pictures of her & Alice make the papers. I’m sure it will be hilarious. Keep up the good work … can’t wait for the next update.

Dammit, you just keep getting better. I still have no idea how you do it. You make me get involved with every single storyline in this thing. Shane’s making a lot of progress, and letting Carmen go so as not to put her through any undue pain shows a hell of a lot of growth…although that’s a bad situation to be in no matter what. I hope your version of Carmen isn’t quite as bitchy and grudge-holding as the show’s version. Bette and Tina usually bore me senseless, but I loved them both in this chapter and I think they’re making a ton of progress too. Helena and Lara are just cute, and the way you portray their relationship makes me like it. Never thought I would. And Danish…sigh. Too cute. Although I have to ask…couldn’t they just shut the door? Not that I’m against the whole giving him a bone idea, but…yeah. Anyway, loved it as always.
ok wow again well written and great update but uhhhh ya enough sad unhappy sharmen ok ive had enough with that on the real show cant we have a happy sharmen fic like its supposed to be pleaseeeeeeeeeee, shane better smarten up and relize her and carmen are what makes each other tick and that shes her heart come on. shane , with all this growth needs to relaize shes not ehr dad and she is capable of love cuz she is everyone knows it but her as carmen pins out. happy sharmen please…… loved dave in this very cute.
I can see what you mean about Shane trying to do the right thing. Poor thing is making herself the (unnecessary) martyr, but she doesn’t seem to realize that she’s hurting Carmen a hell of a lot more than she is helping her. And when Shane says she doesn’t feel that bond with Carmen, well, I really get to thinking. Does she have it and just not recognize it, or does she really not have it at all? I’m so anxious to read more; I’ll have to keep reading your author’s note to keep me afloat until the next update. LOL!. This was an intense chapter, very well written.
Grrr…Shane!!! What the fuck is she thinking???? Throwing away Carmen like that, Carmen was one hundred percent right; it is all about Shane, she needs to win Shane back and make her see that she (Shane) isn’t like she thinks she is.Love the Danish, Tibette, and Helena/Lara relations though.
