It was about 6:30pm by the time Tina had arrived at Bette’s. She paid the cab driver and climbed out of the taxi. She smoothed out the sun dress she had thrown on and made her way to the front door. She was about to knock then hesitated feeling extremely nervous. Her hand was in mid knock when Bette opened the door smiling. “You going to stand out here all night?”

Tina was stunned but soon recovered. “Uh..sorry. No I’m not just a lot on mind I guess.”

Bette smiled a smile that warmed Tina straight to her core. “Come in.”

Tina walked in brushing past Bette. This didn’t go un noticed by her. Bette closed her eyes stifling a moan from the contact. Tina took a look around the living room at the many paintings Bette had on the wall. “Wow your home is amazing.” Tina immediately felt at home in this environment. She noticed in the kitchen was a patio door and what she could make out was a pool outside.

Bette saw that Tina was trying to see what was all outside. “Do you mind if we eat outside? It’s such a nice night out.”

Tina replied. “I’d love to. From what I see, it looks beautiful out there.” Bette thanked her and had Tina carry the wine and two glasses outside while she grabbed the plates and eating utensils. She set the table near the pool. The lights strung along the fence set an intimate mood. Tina laughed to herself for thinking it felt almost like a date.

Bette brought out the food. “I ordered Chinese. I didn’t want to risk killing you with my awful cooking.” Bette joked she then looked up at Tina. “Do you like Chinese food?”

Tina smiled helping Bette with the food. “I love Chinese. Thank you, Bette.”

Once their food was set on their plates, they ate and Tina had stuck to just one glass as the wine had flowed for Bette. It was helping calm down her nerves. She had begun to laugh at what Tina had said. She then decided to ask the one thing that had been on her mind. “Tee, I know it’s hard for you to talk about it but what did happen to your brother?”
