More Than a Feeling
More Than a Feeling
Chapter 1:
The alarm clock buzzed angrily for a good five minutes before a strong, angry arm came crashing down on to the snooze button. One tired eye cracked open to view the clock, making sure that some more sleep time could be spared. 6:05 a.m.
It was concluded that five more minutes should do the trick.
In three and a half minutes, the bedroom door opened. "Sweetie, get up or you’re going to be late."
"Five more minutes." Came the whiney, muffled reply.
"Do you want to be late for your first day?"
"I don’t care."
"Come one. Get up. One two, chop, chop." The voice became louder and there was an incorporation of clapping hands and snapping fingers.
"Mom!" Sixteen-year-old Christina Kennard shouted from beneath her pillow. "I just want five more–" The alarm clock started up again, cutting her off. She groaned, tossing the pillow off her head before slowly turning on her side. "Great, I just wanted five more minutes of sleep and you went and ruined it."
Amy Kennard smiled all too widely for such an early hour in the morning. "Your bus leaves at seven. Better get a move on." Then, she closed the door.
Tina rolled her eyes and tossed her blanket off her body. Today, she was a junior in high school.
Summer was fun, but it was over. Now it was time to work. Junior year was the most important year in Tina’s high school career, or so her counselors said, which is why she felt this sudden weight pressing against her chest.
Exhaling loudly, Tina ran her fingers through her wavy blonde locks before getting up to shower.
——————————-
The alarm clock buzzed angrily for about three seconds before a clean, well-manicured, newly moisturized hand gently pressed the "off" button.
The door opened about thirty seconds later. "Oh good, you’re ready."
Elizabeth Porter looked at her father through the mirror. "I’ll be down in a few minutes."
"Hurry up; I have a surprise for you downstairs." Melvin Porter replied, nodding curtly before closing the door.
It was only 6:05 in the morning, but she had been up since about five. There was something about the first day of school that always made Bette anxious. No, anxious wasn’t really the word. Excited was a better term. Could it have been the fact that every year since she started school, she had to follow in her older sister’s shadow and try to break from the disturbing reputation that came with the Porter name because of Kit? Maybe.

Manda, I don’t think that I can adequately express my gratitude for this TiBette beginning. This is sooooooooo welcome. I personally feel like Ilene has raked me over the coals and then tarred and feathered me with S3. Please post often so that I may escape the torture. I’ll be less dramatic in my comments on the next chapter.

Might I say I’m “captured”, I love the title and the story. Bette and Tina will always rock and I look happily forward to your next post :-)
GREAT START…JUST Hope u continue and don’t abandon the story in the middle, like some of the other stories.
I’m really excited to see how this turns out. Looking at high school through Tina’s eyes cracked me up, especially the view from outside the building. It reminded me of the beginning scenes of “Mr. Holland’s Opus” in 1994 just before he was told he’d be cut loose from his job. This Bette seems so innocent and this Tina seems so “whatever.” Please post again soon!
This is good and like it. Please post soon, thanks!
