My Best Friend – Chapter 3
After the walk downtown and grabbing a light lunch, Tina and Eric were on their way to the beach. Bare feet strolled along the shore line. "It is so beautiful out here. I wish I could afford a house on the beach. To listen the waves crashing on the sand; the smell of the sun, sand, salt, water, sunscreen, and being able to watch the sunsets. Don’t think there is anything more perfect than that," Tina couldn’t help but share her thoughts as they walked. "I know exactly what you mean. When I found out that I had to move to LA, it was of course a little hard to take, leaving my friends and everything that I had known all my life, the thought of the being able to be so much closer to the beach was something I was looking forward to," Eric added.
Finding a secluded spot near some rocks they took a seat, watching the sun shine on the water. "So, tell me a little bit more about yourself?" Eric turning his attention to girl beside him. "Hmm well there isn’t really much to tell. I moved to LA from North Carolina when I was five. Dad got a promotion at work causing that. I am an only child, so those close to me I cherish. I met Bette the first day of kindergarten, best friends from day one. Our parents couldn’t keep us apart. We have been living together since the day we graduated high school. She is an amazing friend, couldn’t ask for anyone better. I have had your typical up bringing, well what you can call typical while being raised in LA. You met my other good friends earlier, Shane, Alice, and Dana. I wouldn’t know what to do without them, especially Bette. I have been dreaming of being in the film industry since I could remember. Something about films, the way that a single line from a certain movie can change someones life. The way that it can take a time from the past and bring into the future. No matter the day you are having, if even for two hours, you can just lose yourself in it. I really hope that one day I have a chance to be apart of that, to cause that." Eric was taken aback hearing Tina speak. The way her face changes when she goes from talking about one thing to another, it was something he loved from the first second. The look on Tina’s face, lost so deep in thought, Eric reached over laying his hand on top of hers, giving it a slight squeeze.
Immediately breaking from her thoughts, taking her hand and pulling her hair that was blowing in her face, she gave Eric a small smile. "Sorry, I can do that sometimes. Get lost in the moment and my mind just wonders," Tina said explaining. He couldn’t help but return the smile, "it’s ok, I kinda thought it was cute."
"So, Eric tell me something about yourself?" Tina wanting to take the attention off herself.
They continued talking for several more hours. The sun was starting to set, noticing Tina beginning to shiver Eric suggests they head home. Eric giving her a lift back to the apartment. "Thank you again for today. I never knew this place could be beautiful," Eric telling Tina outside her door. "You’re very welcome." Leaning forward for a hug Tina is surprised when she receives a kiss instead. Pulling away, "I am sorry Eric, but I hope you didn’t think this was going somewhere, but I am not interested in that. I was hoping for a friendship honestly." Tina feeling horrible about what just happened. "It’s ok, I had a question, a feeling about something; you just answered them both for me. You are in love with Bette aren’t you?" Eric stood looking off in the distance. Taking a gasp of air, Tina couldn’t believe she had been ask that. "I.. I, phew, umm," giving him a perplexed look. "It’s ok, you don’t have to answer. I can see it on your face now, like I did earlier. The way your face changes when you talk about her, the look you get in your eyes. It is easy for anyone to see. Of course it seems it is easy for everyone, but Bette." Shaking her head Tina trying to get him to stop talking about it. "No, it’s not like that. She is my best friend, of course my mood will change. Talking about someone who I care about so much, everyone’s mood changes when they talk about someone they care about, love, or need in their life. How is that any different?" Tina couldn’t believe this was happening. Was this really happening?
"It is different because you are in love with Bette."

Great update missed this – what a wake up call for Tina! Love this story :) Thank you!
Admit it Tina you are in love with Bette. It is too late to change that fact. Bette is the one person that makes your heart beat faster, the one that makes you body all giddy when she walks into the room.
Great story! At Eric isn’t an ass here, and seems to be sensitive. I hope Tina fesses up to the truth. PPS!
