    My Child – CHAPTER EIGHT

    ——-

Bette and Hannah arrived home. Kenneth and Jasmine were sitting on the couch.

“How did it go?” Kenneth asked concerned.

“Fine, I’m 8 weeks along. The baby is healthy.” Hannah said with a quite sad face. Jasmine stood up and hugged her sister. Hannah began crying. Kenneth and Bette also came closer and they hugged the teen.

“It’s going to be okay.” Bette whispered in Hannah’s ear and then kissed her temple. The doorbell sounded and Bette opened the door, looking in Darren’s face.

    “Hey, Darren.” Bette said.

“Hi, Bette, I just wanted to check up on my daughter.”

“Sure, come in.” Bette said. Darren was still hurt his wife had left him because she was a lesbian years ago but they got along. For the kids. When Hannah saw her Dad, she walked over and held him close, tears running down her cheeks.

“Oh, baby doll, it’s gonna be alright.” The tall, mocha skinned man said. Hannah didn’t replay, she just held on tight. After a while, she calmed down a little and sat on the sofa. “How is the baby?” Darren asked. Jasmine and Kenneth sat next to their sister while Bette kept standing.

“The baby is healthy. I’m 8 weeks.” She said.

“You know you’ll have all the support you need, right? You have us and Tina’s family.” Kenneth said.

“Tina? Who’s Tina?” Darren asked looking at Bette, suspecting it was her girlfriend.

“Tina is my best FRIEND.” Bette said.

“Oh, okay.” Darren said. They talked a little while before he went back home. Hannah walked to her room with Jasmine and Kenneth began watching T.V. Bette walked to her bedroom and called Tina.

    “Hey.” Tina said.

    “Hi.” Bette said back.

“How did everything go?” Tina asked.

“Okay, Hannah’s baby is healthy and developing normal. She is 8 weeks.” Bette said.

“That’s good news. Does she know what she wants to do with her child?’ Tina wanted to know.

“She still wants to keep it although she is considering adoption.”

“What do you want her to do?”

“Honestly? Keep it. My friend Shane has been through a lot when she ended up in foster care and stuff. I don’t want that for my grand-child.” Bette told her.

“How did the kids and your ex react?”
