Me and my family
“Anyone home?” I yell as I kick off my shoes. “We’re in the kitchen, honey!” I hear my mom call back. I hang my blazer on the chair before I make my way to the kitchen. Mom and Mama are making Lasagna while my sisters are entertaining themselves with something on the computer. “Hey sweetie!” my mom gives me a light kiss on the cheek. “What’s up?” I sit down by the table looking at my sisters. “Angie is showing me her latest designs, they are perfect” Lindsey looks at me with a face that mirrors my Mama’s. “They are just lay outs” Angie interjects slapping my little sister gently on the head. “Well I agree with your sister, they are good” Mama leans in and looks above Lindsey’s shoulder. “Yes, they are good” Mom’s British accent ascends from the stove. “We’ll see what my boss says…” she gives me a smile, “so Peanut, how was school today” I give her a smile before steal one of the onion rings that is lying in the salad bowl on the table. “Not much” as I eat another onion ring, “I got a physic assignment”. “Old Mrs. Fisher, still down your back?” Angie winks at me over the table.
“She was just goggling Laura” and with that Lindsey throws herself back into the conversation. “You are so your Mama’s daughter” Mom gives me a smile. “I totally recent that” Mama pats mom’s back. Caitlin is in love, Caitlin is in love” my sisters chirp in union over the table. “So how are you guys doing?” Mama opens the wine bottle and pours in both their glasses, “you want some girls?” she holds forward the bottle. Angie and I both get some, Lindsey decline. “Good, she just came back from a week in Britain” I steal a sip of water from my sister. “Britain? She has good taste then” Mama jokes as she helps mom with the lasagna. “Well guess who was kissing Ricardo” I point a mocking finger at my sister. “I did not” Angie tries to feign innocent. “I saw you too” Lindsey looks up from her lasagna. “Is it gang up on Angie day” she takes a big sip of the glass. “Everyday honey, everyday honey” mom laughs.
