chapter 2

 One of the desks had Shane’s name on it, and the other one had Cherie’s name on it. Why is Cherie taking calculus. She almost failed last year on precalc. Whatever….she’s a senior. Cherie Jaffe comes and takes her seat in her own snobbish way. After the bell rang Shane appeared in the class. Was it his signature move to come late to class. Or maybe he’s just lost. 

       Now this is really weirding me out. WHy do I keep thinking about him! He’s not even a girl. But there’s this thing about his eyes, that makes you want to keep looking like a magnet. But there was something wrong in this attraction that I cannot point my fingure. I mean obviously that fact that he’s a guy and I am finding myself staring at him is weird…but there was something mysterious about him…something missing.

 Shane: "Hey"

 Cherie and I say "Hey" at the same time. 

 We were given a form to fill up. Some emergency care form. I finished mine and couldn’t help but look into Shane’s form. He marked the box that said "Female" in the form. I thought it was a mistake. I couldn’t help but point it out to him. 

 Shane looked up at me like I was the stupidest person alive. 
Cherie looked at me and laughed like I was a fool. 

 Shane looked at Cherie and then gave me a lopsided grin…that made my insides melt. 

 Shane: "Its okay Cherie."

 and then he looked at me..

 Shane: "Everyone thinks I am a boy when they first see me. Its probably my clothes and my name. Haha" 

 I sigh in relief. I don’t even know why I am relieved but I am. Now I notice that there is this feminine touch in ‘her’ face. She looks down and then looks up at me and smiles. I couldn’t hold her stare and looked down at my paper. 

 We were given our home-word sheet and Cherie passed her sheet for Shane to keep. 

 Cherie: "I need it done by tomorrow"

 ’wait why is Cherie making Shane do her homework?’ 

 Carmen:"Its not due tomorrow right?"

 Cherie: "NO…But I need to impress Mr. Krane so he’d give me a good rec for college."
