Chapter 14

Tina dropped Bette off to the gallery after their lunch date. She was planning to give herself a tour of the city and shop a little while waiting for Bette. After stepping out the door of KaniT her phone rang.

“Tina Kennard”

“Thank God you’re still alive. What the hell is wrong with you pulling that stunt off? Why didn’t you tell me that you were leaving? Where are you and when are you coming back? Are you ever coming back?” Alice fired off.

“Hello to you, too, Alice. If you must know, mother, I am in New York. I am sorry if I wasn’t able to ask for your permission I felt like I had no time to waste and just hopped on the next plane going here. I hope I’m not grounded.” Tina said trying to be serious while holding her laughter in.

“You are so not funny. Wait, New York? Did you? You did! Oh God you did! You found her?” Alice asked happily.

“I did, Al. I did. I’m staying with her til I have to get back there.”

“Go back? What? Why? She’s not coming with you?” Alice asked.

“She can’t. Not right now. We’re going to try the long distance thing.” Tina somberly said.

“Long distance, huh? So you guys are an item?”

“Yep. We are.” Tina said with a smile in her face.

“It took you long enough.” Alice quipped.

“Oh shut up, Al!”

“OK so you’ve been there since when?” Alice questioned.

“Since last weekend.”

“And you never BOTHERED to call me or Shane?!? Seriously Tina, you two are gonna give us a heart attack.”

“I’m sorry, Al. Everything happened way too fast. Not that I am complaining. And I guess we were wrapped up in our own world that we or I kinda forgot. Sorry. Forgive me?” Tina said in a sheepish voice.

“Only if you tell me all about it when you get back.” Alice said.

“Deal.”

“Deal. Is Bette around? I want to talk to her. I miss that freak.” Alice asked.

“I just dropped her off in the gallery, Al. I’ll tell her to call you so she can also get her own dose of sermon. And my girlfriend is not a freak.” Tina said laughing.
