Bette and Tina returned to the Angelica’s side after they’re fifteen
minute talk to find Dr. Francine seemingly studying the little girl.

    "What is it?" Tina started.
    "What’s wrong?" Bette finished.
"I viewed the film and her condition is not due to any brain
abnormality. Its functioning just fine. I’m waiting on her blood test.
It should give me a better idea of what I’m dealing with," the doctor
    answered.
"Of what your dealing with? Don’t you know," Bette fired off.
"As of now, I won’t lie to you Ms. Porter, I don’t. But believe me I
will find out. You have my word."

    Hour 3

Lauren Francine rubbed her forehead. She sat at the nurse’w station
reviewing her patients chart. One in particular.

She was at a loss, a complete loss with Angelica Kennard-Porter. As a
pedetrician, Lauren had ordered every basic test. And not one shed light
on the little girl’s condition. Her brain was functioning as it should.
    Her blood was normal.

"Blood," Lauren said to herself, "Why hadn’t I thought of that before?"

Lauren grabbed the phone that sat at the nurse’s station and called the
    lab.

"Yeah, Greg, you still have Kennard-Porter vile with you? Good, good
listen. I want to run a tox screen for me. I don’t know why I hadn’t
thought to do it before but if it is what I think it is maybe… I can
help this little girl," she smiled into the phone.

"Where the hell is that doctor?" Kit demanded from no one in
    particular.
"Kit, she has other patients she has to check on," Tina explained.
"Why isn’t baby girl her top priority?" Kit sneered.
"Kit calm down," Bette placed her hand on Kit’s shoulder, "Angelica is
being well taken care. The doctor is still trying to figure out what’s
wrong and plot out a course of treatment. Dr. Francine is a very good
doctor," Bette affirmed to her older sister.
"I only want the best for baby girl."
"So do we all,Kit," Tina agreed.
"You guys need anything? I’m gonna go down to the cafeteria and get a
    coffee," Shane asked.
"No thanks. I’m good," Bette answered.
"Do me a favor and take Kit with you. You need a break."
"But Bette, I just got here."
"Just go downstairs and get yourself some tea to calm your nerves,
    please."

Kit looked back and forth between Tina and her sister.

"Okay, okay.I’ll go with you Shane."
"Great. You know I always love your company, Kit," Shane smiled.
    "Thanks, Shane."
"While you’re down there, can one of you call Alice again. Find out
    where she is," Tina asked.
"Gotcha," Shane threw over her shoulder.

Lauren stood in the doorway of the small private room around the corner
from Trauma One to see Bette Porter and Tina Kennard in an embrace. She
tried to wait until it ended but soon realized that it wasn’t coming to
    a conclusion anytime soon.

    "Ahem. Excuse me. I don’t mean to…"
"You have  news?" Tina asked wrapping her arm around Bette’s waist,
    facing the young doctor.
"Yes. I have news. Angelica’s condition is due to an insect bite. A
spider bite. A common garden spider. Had she gone to a park today or
    yesterday?"

Both Bette and Tina looked at Sophie.

"Yesterday after running a few errands, we went to the playground on
Timber Road. We sat on the grass and ate lunch then she ran off and
    played with some kids."
"And after that, she was fine?"
"Yeah. I mean she didn’t complain about anything hurting. We went back
to the house and after washing her up, she passed out."
"So the best chance for the bite to occur had to had been during lunch,"
Lauren surmised picking up Angelica’s chart.

She wrote down an order of medication to be adminstered every four
hours. She called a passing nurse into the room and told her of the
    updated chart.

"I’ll get that right," the nurse replied.
"I’ll monitor her closely for the next two hours and see if there’s a
change in her condition," Lauren said to the anxious parents.
"Thank you, Dr. Francine," Tina replied.
"Lets see if this treatment works before thanking me. And it’s Lauren."
"Thank you for taking care of my little girl, Lauren," Bette said shaking the young woman’s hand.

    1. I hope the doctor has found the issue. Spiders are nasty when they bite. I love how Bette and Tina are turning to one another and helping each other stay strong. Fantastic job!
