No Good Deed Goes Unpunished Chapter 31

Alice leaned forward and wrapped her arms around her friend.

    Alice: God I love you!

Alex: I adore you my dear Alice!

Tina: You two make me sick.

Alex: Dont be jealous of our hetero love.

    Tina: Oh please.

Alex: Al, you can have my coffee. Im done.

    Alice: Thanks.

She gave Alex a quick kiss on the cheek.

Tina: Guys we have a lot of work to do if the show is going to open on time. I am going to need your full attention the next few days.

Both turned to Tina and saluted in unison.

    Tina: Cute.

    Alice: Yes captain my captain!

Tina: I cant have any distractions. You got me?

    Alex: Yes maam.

Tina: God help us if even one tiny little thing goes wrong. We have a schedule we need to keep to and I need you to see to it that we dont stray.

    She pointed to Alex.

Alice: What about me? What do you need me to do?

Tina: Al, I need you run lines with the actors when they get here. They should be off book already but I have a feeling the only one who is, is Bette.

    Alice: Consider it done.

Tina wrapped her arms around both of her friends.

Tina: Thank you guys. For everything.

They each shared a quick smile with Tina and then scurried off to begin work.

An hour later Bette was on her way downtown. She hadnt wanted to worry Tina but there had been a frantic message on her voicemail from Jackie, her agent. Bettes stomach was in knots. She hadnt heard Jackie this worked up since it was announced that Cristina Applegate was coming to Broadway. Bette walked as fast as her heels would take her into Jackies office.

    Jennifer: Good morning Bette.

Bette: Good morning Jennifer. I believe Jackie is expecting me?

    Jennifer: Yup, go right in.

Bette gave the young receptionist a kind smile and made her way through the glass doors.

Jackie: Well, well, well, look who finally decided to pay me a visit.

Bette: Ive had a lot going on

Jackie: I dont have time for pleasantries Bette. I know you have gone against my wishes and decided to do Tinas little play

    Bette interceded.

Bette: Its actually quite good Jackie.

Jackie: Bette this play is going to do nothing to enhance your career. You have to at least know that.

Bette began to make her way back toward the door.

Jackie: I dont mean to be harsh, its just that this may do more harm then good.

Bette: Jackie is this conversation going somewhere?

Jackie stood from her chair and walked slowly toward an exhausted Bette.

Jackie: I received a phone call last week from David Canter.

Bette recognized the name immediately. He was a big deal in the casting world.

Jackie: I assume you have heard of the new Simon musical

    Bette: Of course, who hasnt?

Jackie: Well it seems that David is doing the casting and is interested in meeting with you.

Bettes face turned red. She couldnt believe it. She had waited her whole career for a chance at a Simon musical. Those were the biggest and the best. Always sold out and always met with rave reviews.

Bette: Well, when does he want to meet?

    Jackie: A.S.A.P.

Bette: Well call him and tell him yes. Whatever he wants, YES!

Jackie: Ok, but before I do, you realize what this means for Tinas show

Bettes coloring faded as quickly as it appeared.

    Bette: Oh shit.

Jackie: Shes just going to have to understand that this is an opportunity that can really make you. Besides shes got Daphne who will be great in your role.

Bette thought a moment. Tina would kill her. This meant everything to her. She couldnt do this to her! Or could she? Bettes head was spinning.

    Jackie: Its your choice Bette.

Bette dropped her head in her hands letting her brown curls fall over her face.

    1. Brilliant way to bring back the girl who looks just like Bette! I can honestly say I never even saw that coming, not in a million years. Ashle’s trouble…is it me or is she a potential Mariah? …….I shudder to think. I fight like a Trojan??? Why do I feel like I’ve heard that before? Keep writing, you’re amazing.

    2. Hey Flair, I have to say it again but you have such a unique voice and storytelling ability that it is very pleasurable and entertaining to read your continuing tale. I appreciate that you have returned to the play and am interested to see what happens next. Thanks again. Your Loyal Fan.

    3. Flair, this is where I remind you how fantastic your story and writing is…fantastic!Umm, memo to Tina: I hope you haven’t unpacked since moving into the new house ’cause you may not want to be around Bette if goes with the Simon musical. Of course my heart wants Bette to be true to Tina. But hey, where’s the fun and drama in that? Don’t worry, I am working on my risidual anger towards Tina due to S3/IC.

    4. I have a 16 yr old that has got to wear iniforms to school, same old thing from her for 11 yrs. Bette needs to talk to Tina now or lost her voice. Might be a U-Haul at Bette door to haul Tinas stuff away. thanks

    5. *** WELCOME BACK, RACHEL !! ***God, how happy I felt noticing your name on the stories’ list ! I simply cannot express to you how much I missed your drama masterpiece…For so long I was waiting for any updates and then, slowly, the more months passed the less I expected anything and, yes, I must say I truly thought I had to definitly say goodbye to the saga I loved so much…But here you are and, my goodness, it’s SO great ! Please, please don’t let this wonderfully endearing story of yours going away anymore. *** Now our so missed Queen of Drama of course brings us new troubles to worry about ! No, no, no, I simply cannot think that Bette would make the soooo wrong choice here and so lose Tina once more… God, there’s nothing like art, ok, but love is priceless !! And on a strickly business level, I’m convinced that Tina’s play could be Bette’s best opportunity to endly get her so deserved Tony – that Helena’s spoiled before. *** Finally, how this Ashley make me feel nervous ! I cannot help but truly admire our lovebirds’ patience here… *** Thank you so much, My Flair Lady, for giving us this story back – at least.A big affectuous hug for you here, from your good old admirer ! ^_^

    6. Ahhh..my favorite Wicked buddy is back!!! YAY!!! It should be interesting, throwing a 17 year old into the mix. Can’t wait to see where you go with it. Looking forward to your next post!!!

    7. Decisions, decisions. And why should Ashley complain about having to wear that ghetto uniform? At least then you don’t have to get up as the asscrack of dawn to look all beautiful. Damn, I should’ve gone to Catholic school.
