“I don’t think it should be a problem,” I replied, walking back round the counter to check our order book, “Do you have any idea what you want for the menu?”

“Not yet, but maybe you could give me a couple of suggestions?”

I took out our brochure and handed it over to her, “There’s a list of the different kinds of food and desserts we do, if there’s anything special you might want, don’t hesitate to let me know.”

“Wow,” Tasha said, laughing again, “I still can’t believe it…so you own this place?”

“Together with my friend, Alice Pieszecki, she’s in the back. So, how have you been?”

“I’m ok,” she replied, “I mean, since the time when Leisha passed…I’m a lot better now. How about you? How is Bette?”

My expression fell at the mention of her name; I fiddled with my pen, trying to hide the pain which was washing over me again, “She…she passed away two months ago…”

“Oh my gawd, I’m so sorry.”

“No, it’s ok. Her body had some problems with the medication…like what we were told, it’s a hit or miss situation. She caught pneumonia and just…she hung on for as long as she could…”

“I’m sorry to have asked, please don’t be upset,” she said, noticing that my eyes had become slightly teary.

    I smiled, “I’m fine…it just hurts a lot…you know?”

“I completely understand how you feel,” she replied, “But it does get better…eventually…”

“I think you understand better than anyone how what I’m going through feels…”

“I tell you what,” she continued, “I have to rush back to work now, but here’s my card,” she said, handing me her business card, “Maybe you might want to have coffee or something?”

“That’s very nice of you,” I replied, “But I don’t think I’m ready to date…”

Tasha laughed again, “No, it’s not a date. I meant it like…if you need someone to talk to…someone who can relate so to speak. Just give me a call.”

I ran my fingers through my hair, wanting to hide my embarrassment, “Sheesh, and here I am assuming…”

We laughed, looking at each other, “So call me, alright?” she said.

    “I will,” I replied.

    “I’ll see you, Helena.”

I watched her walk out of the shop before I looked down at the card she had given me. Tasha Williams. Maybe I might just give her call. Talking to someone who had gone through what I’m going through might be enlightening.

It’s just coffee, right? I doubt it would hurt.

    1. OMG Euni, I have tears streaming down my face…this chapter was definitely a three hankie one. Thank goodness Tina was able to help Helena start the process of grieving for Bette. I think I am still in shock…but glad that H is getting back in motion…geez…I am still sad…can you write in a long lost twin sister for B to bring her back or will she have a guest appearance like Dana did as a guiding light…anyway, yet again WELL DONE!!!

    6. I know from my own experience how elena feels right now. when you have to burry someone so dear to you, someone whom you loved so much, who was your soulmate it feels as if they burry a part of you as well.

    7. I caught up on this story last night and had to come back in and comment. Great story, hard to read, but impossible to put down. I don’t come to tears very often, but this one did it, pulls at the heartstrings.

    8. Its weird with Bette gone but…I just hope Hels dont die of a broken heart and shes there for many more years with Rebekah. And now she has Tasha to talk to someone to actually relate to, things many get easier through time.
