“Hey Boss-Lady I was wondering if you wanted me to get you anything for dinner?” James questioned. Bette’s look of surprise was evident on her face.
“Shit! I didn’t want to stay here this long. No James that’s alright I have to get out of here anyway.” Bette stated and began to pack up the plans that were spread out all over the tables. Candace began helping her slowly, watching her, memorizing every little movement Bette made. Finally she took a deep breath and took the plunge.
“Hey..ah…Bette?” Candace stammered. Bette looked up at Candace but kept putting things away.
“Yes?” Bette responded. Candace took another deep breath and slowly let it out. Bette’s face showed her confusion at this action.
“There’s this really good Cuban place just around the corner, what do you say we go grab a bite to eat?” Candace asked hopefully, looking up finally at Bette and holding her eyes. Bette pondered Candace’s offer, she was hungry but she also knew that going to dinner with her would throw Tina for a loop. She wasn’t about to screw that up. She smiled a really-sorry-about-this smile.
“Candace. That is a really nice offer, but I don’t think my wife would like getting excluded out of plans.” Bette stated calmly. Candace for her part showed shock.
“Wife? I-I didn’t know…w-where was she the night we met?” Candace questioned suddenly feeling foolish for believing that first this gorgeous woman would be interested in her and second that she wouldn’t be taken. Bette’s face registered sadness as to why Tina wasn’t at Kit’s concert.
“She wasn’t feeling well.” Bette stated, leaving it at that.

Tina had practically jogged to the front doors of the CAC from her car. She figured she would take Bette out for dinner. She had already gone out and found the perfect Irish wedding band and ordered it this afternoon while Bette worked. It wasn’t too over the top or anything so Tina was pleased with her purchase. The problem was she couldn’t pick it up until next week. As Tina crossed the threshold of the CAC, she immediately saw James, whose face lit up at seeing Tina.
