A couple weeks later, I was still reeling at the fact my father not only approved of my lifestyle, but he approved of Tina. Not that it mattered, I would be with her regardless, but knowing he liked her put my heart at ease. Now it was time to face her parents, and I was very nervous. I knew she was as well, but she put on a brave front.

We were on an early morning flight to Chapel Hill. Jackson was excited to see his nana and papa. I was between semesters, ready for my final semester, and Tina was excited to begin her classes for her Master’s. I was sitting in the isle seat, with my text book, reading ahead. Tina sat in the middle, doing the same, getting a head start on her classes. And of course, our little prince Jackson had the window seat, looking out the whole time during take off. After a few minutes, his little head was resting in Tina’s lap.

”Have you ever seen such a beautiful sight,” I ask and she smiles.

”I never tire of seeing my angel sleep,” she said and held my hand, ”especially the fact he isn’t driving me crazy!”

    ”Baby!”

”I’m kidding, I love my little curious boy.”

”Do you think he’s gonna sleep the whole five hour flight?”

”Probably not. He’s just really excited to see his cousins and his nana and papa.”

”I know, he’s been talking about it all week,” I said and we sat in silence for a minute, probably both thinking the same thing, ”so, when are we gonna tell them?”

”I don’t know. When we get there, we’ll visit for a while, let Jackson have some fun with his cousins. Then after everyone has gone home, we’ll tell my parents.”

”Tee can I admit something to you?”

    ”Of course.”

    ”I’ve never met parents before.”

”Never,” she asked and I shook my head, ”why not?”

”Well, before you I had never taken any of my relationships seriously. I feel like an asshole, and I feel ashamed admitting this, but I’d only strung girls along. They’ve never met my family and I’d never met their’s.”

”So, what you’re saying is, I am the first girl you’ve ever brought home, so to speak.”
