One More Chance Ch. 2
“I wanted to come in and wish you congratulations.” Alice looked at Dana oddly.
“Thank you Dana,” Dana had a goofy grin on her face. “Dana, you’re smashed.”
“No I’m not,” Dana stood up quickly and lost balance. Alice grabbed her and pulled her to her. Dana blinked and looked at Alice. They stared at each other, even though Dana reeked of alcohol breath. Alice looked at Dana as if she was going to say something.
“What? What is it?” Dana turned her head away from Alice as she threw up in the kitchen sink. Alice pulled Dana’s hair away from her face and rubbed her back. Shane walked into the kitchen and sighed heavily. She shook her head and looked at Alice. Alice had pleading eyes, and Shane went over to help her. Dana was still upchucking while Alice and Shane rubbed her back.
“How much did she drink?”
Shane shook her head. “I don’t know, she took the announcement pretty hard.”
“I would say so, I haven’t seen Dana like this in a long time.” Alice looked at Shane. “Where’s Lara?”
“She went home. I was going to break Dana home after she passed out or something.”
“I think she should stay here tonight. I don’t think Lara was to deal with a drunk tonight.”
“Are you sure? What’s Natalie going to say?”
“Who cares? Dana’s sick, and she’s need to sleep it off. She can stay in the guest room.” Dana was finally vomiting in the sink and wiped her mouth. She turned on the water and ran her face under it. She let water into her mouth and spit it out. She slowly stood up and exhaled. Shane looked at her and rubbed her back.
“You feel better?” Dana nodded slowly. “Lets get you to bed.” Alice and Shane carried Dana to the guest room and laid her on the bed. Shane took off Dana’s shoes and Alice took off her earrings. Dana tossed and turned in the bed and murmured.
“What Dana?” Alice sat on the bed and stroked her hair, and Shane stood at the foot of the bed.
“I love you Alice—I love you,” she retorted. Alice looked at Shane, and Shane shrugged.
“Get some sleep Dana,” Alice got off the bed and turned off the lamp. She and Shane walked out of the bedroom.
“I’m gonna go. I must pick up Carmen from work. Give me a call,” Alice nodded and hugged Shane. Shane waved goodbye and left. Alice sighed and scratched her neck. Natalie came down the hall and saw Alice.
“Hey, where were you? I’ve been looking for you.”
“I had to take care of something, but I’m free now.” Natalie smiled and wrapped her arms around Alice.
“I can’t wait to marry you,” Alice smiled, and Natalie kissed her softly. “C’mon, lets celebrate some more.” Alice grabbed her hand, and they walked back to the crowd.
