Out of Closet (B&T time-travel romance), Ch. 10
At the thought of Elizabeth’s lover Tina flinched and felt a pain in her abdomen. “Do I feel a pang of jealousy? How could it be? I’ve been hanging out with my dear gay friends too long, now I’m turning into a gay lady myself. Too bad the object of my affection is…well, dead.”
Tina knew that using sarcasm could help her to stay focused and not fall apart completely from self-pity. She made more coffee, knowing that another sleepless night awaited her and continued to ponder aloud over the clues. “Okay, so the bullet hit the painting and still ended up in her heart. Maybe I should call Max Sweeney in forensics and see if he can tell me more about the bullet trace.”
Tina knew Max from previous work assignment they were involved in together when she was in charge of developing the mini-series about field investigators for Alphaville. She dialed his number and after a short conversation he told her to come over and bring the portrait for a test.
After analyzing the damaged edge of the miniature, Max suggested the possibility of some kind of metal frame that was on the painting previously that could possibly have been damaged even more from the impact of the bullet.
Tina called Professor Franklin and he confirmed that it was customary to keep the miniatures in a treasure box, or they could have a gilt-metal frame with a little ring on the top of it to put a chain through so it could be worn around a person’s neck, because the miniatures were pretty small and light.
Tina returned home with more ideas but with fewer answers to the mystery. “Okay, let’s think logically,” she began pacing and talking to herself again. “Oak is a pretty heavy, very strong, very hard and stiff wood, durable under exposure, and has a great wear-resistance. The miniature also had a gilt-metal frame and there’s no hole in it, so how come bullet hit the painting and still went through Elizabeth’s heart? Unless the miniature wasn’t with Elizabeth on the day of the shooting, the other version doesn’t make any sense.”
Tina finished another cup of coffee and sat on the couch, continuing to analyze the miniature.

It’s so exciting to read about their intimate moments, you write them so well my friend and I love your story so much, please post soon. Love
see you shouldnt have mentioned that you have written most of the story already because i am more anxious about the updates… and i have ten more chapters to go before they meet… please post soon….
I was thinking of this story today and then, when I next check the site, this chapter had been posted. Thank you for this post and, as I have said in prior comments, thanks for resurrecting this story. I have so very much wanted to find out what happens. I guess that whenever I want a new chapter I should think about the story and a post will appear? Oh–such power! I will think about your story on Sunday. A chapter will follow, right? All silliness aside–I love how you weave the two time periods together, with events from the past being reflected in the future. PPS.
I need more! Please post soon, pretty. :)
That was awesome and can’t wait to see more, PPS!
This is really getting good B&TF. If the story is mostly written, can we get another update soon? Well done!
