Out of Closet (B&T time-travel romance), Ch. 53, Part 2
“But you changed the past, Al,” Shane pointed out to wipe out the triumphant smile on Alice’s face.
The blonde’s smile disappeared and she glanced at Bette apologetically. “Yes, I know…and I’m really sorry, Bette. I know that my actions caused some changes in history, including Christina being shot instead of you but I’m glad that I was able to save your life and made two people happy.”
Bette smiled and took Tina’s hand in hers. “It’s okay, Alice. I think I came to terms with Christina’s death…and thank you, by the way. Please, continue.”
“Okay, where was I?” Alice bowed theatrically and checked her notes. “According to archival records I looked through, Melvin Porter died in 1890 and Maxine lived until 1905. I copied a few entries from her diary and we now know that Bette was a daughter of a black man named George Washington Carter, with whom Maxine had a brief affair.”
Bette shook her head and Kit moved closer to give her a hug, letting her know that she understood Bette’s pain.
“From Maxine diary we also know that Eric Fischer shot at Christina, thinking it was Bette. He was later found by the sheriff and some volunteers and was shot to death,” Alice continued, carefully wording the facts so she didn’t actually have to say that Christina was dead but simply imply it. “Christina Radcliff was Bette’s art teacher, married to Daniel Kennard and pregnant at the time of the shooting. She is also the one who painted the infamous miniature of Bette, the object of Tina’s drooling since she was a scrawny 13-year-old girl.”
“Hey, I resent this comment,” Tina protested half-heartedly.
“Which part, that you were scrawny or that you were drooling over the miniature?” Alice grinned.
“Both,” Tina grinned back, leaving no doubt that both statements were true.
“So far you didn’t tell us anything new, Alice,” Bette commented. “How do you explain that my miniature that Christina painted ended up in Tina’s attic?”
“I will get to that, Bette, when we will talk about objects, symbols and mysteries.”
“Fine, do it your way,” Bette rolled her eyes and took a glass of wine that Tina offered. “Thanks, honey.”

Hello BetteAndTinaForever… :-) I just found this story 2 days ago and I finally manage to catch up! OMG! this is sooooo GOOD!! It’s so hard to stop reading! I wish I found it earlier (but somehow glad I didn’t as it’s still in progress) … Anyway, I do hope you’ll posting again and not forgetting this story… I’m sorry, but I hate to admit that it will be so disappointing to have such a great story but no proper ending … Hopefully you’ll find time to write and posting again :-) and spare my little heart from my curiosity of this story ending.
