Chapter 6: Love and betrayal (Elizabeth closes one bad chapter of her life and Tina confronts Eric)
Place: Orange County, CA
Year: 1885
(Previously) “You know, you are now officially my guardian angel, Alicia,” Elizabeth began timidly, "and I would really like for you to stop calling me Ms. Porter. It makes me feel as old as my mother.”
“What should I call you then?” Alicia replied, shifting her body a little so she could face her mistress. “What does your mother call you?”
“She calls me Lizzie most of the time, but it’s kind of a family name…you can call me Elizabeth," she finished after thinking for a minute.
“Is that what your friends call you then?” Alicia asked again, looking at Elizabeth with amusement.
“Well, I don’t have many friends, but yes, that’s what they call me…Elizabeth. And since you are my friend too, that would be fine for you to call me that and it’s less formal than Ms. Porter.”
Alicia scratched her head and touched the water in the fountain with the tip of her fingers. “Elizabeth is still quite formal to me. It’s like I’m talking to a Queen. Please, Queen Elizabeth, your breakfast is served.”
They both laughed and then Alicia asked teasingly, “So, Ms. Porter, do you mind if I call you Bette?”

‘Bette…Bette Porter,’ Elizabeth’s mind mused over the new name that Alicia gave her. ‘Sounds wonderful actually…it gives some sort of strength to my name and while it’s not as endearing as Lizzie…which sometimes makes me feel like a child…Bette sounds informal enough not to cross the line to familiarity. I really like it.’
“I really like it,” she repeated out loud and smiled at Alicia. “Now you are also officially my first true friend.”
“So, I guess you have some questions for me, Ms. Por…um, I mean, Bette,” Alicia said in soft voice. “I just want you to know that I heard you crying out my name and luckily, I was close enough to get to you in time. He didn’t do anything to you…not anything physically damaging, I mean. I’m pretty sure that emotionally and psychologically he hurt you plenty, am I right? Considering that you hid in your bedroom for most of the night and the morning.”

I am so glad that you brought this back. When it looked as if you had abandoned it along the fanfic roadside, I reread it and tried to write an ending (in my head, only) and couldn’t do it. So, when each chapter appears I bounce up and down with glee.
So Tina has nailed Eric’s gluteus and now he is gone in both time zones. Hope that you enjoy your travels.

Well, sounds like Eric is a cad all round…he’s a liar and a coward. At least he’ll get what he deserves and at the hands of Tina in this life! Great update B&TF…loving this story.
Hey there! Late comment, cause late reading, cause away on a trip… But your update was the first story I read when I got back. I guess it says a lot about how much I love this story. I love the parallel between both misadventures with the piece of sh**. I guess now is coming the time for healing and moving on, and… maybe finding the real goodness of this world, which for them, has only one name: Tibette.
