“Hey, Mama S,” Alice says, sarcastically.

Shane looks up from the newspaper she was reading. “Alice,” She warns her estranged friend. “I’m just reading the paper and having a cup of coffee.”

“I can see that,” Alice crosses her arms over her chest. “Shane, we need to talk –”

“Alice,” Shane holds up her hand. “We really don’t because I know what you’re going to say. You’ve been saying it since Tina and I got together and I’m tired of hearing it.”

“I just think it’s wrong that you could do that to Bette. She’s your friend for Christ sakes, Shane!”

“I’m not doing this,” Shane stands up and grabs her newspaper and cup of coffee.

Alice stands in Shane‘s way. “I’m only thinking about what’s best for everyone. I know you, Shane, and I know what you’re going to do.”

“What am I going to do?” Shane asks, annoyed.

“You’ll get bored and you’ll cheat on Tina. I don’t think Tina really needs to deal with a break up when things are going so well in her life right now. Angie,” Alice shakes her head. “What is she going to think when you stop coming around?”

“You don’t know me half as well as you think you do, Alice. I shouldn’t have to explain Tina and I to you but I will. I care about her and she cares about me and we have a good life together. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for her or Angie, and I wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize. So, if you want to be a good friend then stop giving Tina such a hard time.” Shane walks around Alice and out of The Planet.

Alice just stands there slack jawed until Kit approaches her. “What the fuck is wrong with her?”

“You push someone hard enough baby girl and they are liable to snap.” Kate replies.

Alice sits down at the table. “Why are you so cool with Tina and Shane?”

Kit sighs. “Well, I love my sister to death, but if Shane makes Tina happy them I’m happy for them. Bette’s with Jodi and Tina’s with Shane.”

“I don’t fucking get it.” Alice mutters.

Hi again, great chapter, I’m glad you wrote the reactions of Alice and Bette as negative, because I can’t see them instantly supporting this relationship, makes it much more believeable.

Bette never will though, but I believe that Alice would eventually.

bette is realising what she lost. i’m shocked that alice would act like this towards tina… max and grace always made a good couple in my mind, grace is so excepting of who max is!! :)

Grace is just wonderful! Someone needs to get on a Grace and Max story.

really enjoying where your going with this. I can understand Bette’s reactiongiven how close her and Shane are so they’re gonna need to talk, but Alice’s surprises me…look forward to your next chap :)
