Chapter 101

“Hey Baby…aw you look so tired.” Tina leaned over and kissed Bette on the cheek. “I can’t believe we’re going to have twins – again!” They were still in bed – Tina woke up from their nap first.

“Are you sure you’re ok with this Sweetie – I mean – that’s a lot of babies under one roof at one time.” Bette was lacking enthusiasm – she was just wiped out.

“Baby – there’s enough of us to go around…we’ll manage…somehow we’ll get through it. I’m so happy! I wish you felt better though… Believe me I know how you feel. Been there – done that – recently!”

“T…I know…I was there remember? Tell me when I’m going to get the glow. Right now I’m just burnt out – totally fried…. God…how long does this feeling last?”

“I don’t remember – but it won’t last forever Babe…..And…now it’s my turn to take care of you….”

“My every need T?” Bette winked at Tina.

“Your every desire Bette!” Tina smiled at Bette warmly. “I love you.” Tina leaned over and kissed Bette again. “We should tell mom about this before anyone else finds out – she’s going to be right here for all of it. Lucky for us huh?”

“Yeah T – really lucky for us….I’m so ***** tired…..”

“Bette?”

“Yeah?”

“I don’t suppose you feel like making love – do you?”

“Not this very minute T…later ok?”

“Yeah…later Baby …if you’re up to it. If not you can go to bed early – I can handle the babies.”

“But I want to be with you – I love holding you while you feed Dylan and Taylor.”

“Ok – but it’s ok if you need to sleep instead – ok?”

“Ok T…that’s fine.” Bette yawned. “***** – how am I going to function….?”

“You’ll be ok Baby – you will! Let’s go tell mom.”

Bette dragged her sorry ***** out of bed. She wanted to crawl back in. Tina encouraged her to keep moving. “Come on Bette – you can do it – one – foot – in – front – of – the – other.”

“I’m tired Tina – not retarded! I haven’t forgotten how to walk!” Bette smiled at Tina.


They went into the kitchen where Jackie was sitting at the table with Jake and Mini – sitting in their chair. Jake now shared his chair with Mini – he loved his puppy. Jackie looked up and saw Tina and Bette walk into the room. “What’s up you two – you look like someone died – what’s the deal?”

Bette sat down and put her head down on the table.

“Oh my God – Bette – you’re pregnant aren’t you? I can tell by the way you look…are you ok?”

“Mom – jeez…do you ever miss anything?” Tina looked at Jackie in total amazement.

“No – apparently not – I guess I don’t miss much.”

Bette kept her head on the table – she just wanted to go back to sleep. “Oh – and I’m having twins – whoopee! Yeah….”

Jackie went over to Bette. “Awww Sunshine – this is great news…oh my God – four of them – yikes!”

“Yeah – yikes is right.” Bette still lacked enthusiasm. Jackie put her hands on Bette’s shoulders and rubbed them gently. “This is good news Sunshine. I know you feel like ***** today – it’ll get better…I promise…”

“I hope so – right now I feel like I’m dead….I have to go back to bed…I have to…it’s calling my name…hear it?”

Bette stood up. Jackie grabbed her and gave her a hug. “Sunshine – congratulations – you’re giving me my third and fourth grandchild. I love you Sunshine. Go back to bed. I’ll make dinner while Tina feeds the twins. Oh my God – what do we call the twins when the twins are born?”

“God I don’t know – Pete…Pete…Pete and Repeat?” Bette attempted to chuckle but she was too sleepy.

“Funny Bette…” Tina grabbed Bette’s hand. “Let’s get you back into bed. You need to sleep.”

Tina and Bette walked back to the bedroom. Bette fell onto the bed like a ton of bricks. “T…I’m sorry I’m not more excited about this – I just feel so damn crappy….God…I feel like *****!”

“It’s ok Baby…I felt really crappy too remember….it’ll pass. You need to go to sleep.” Tina pulled the blanket up around Bette.

“Tina…will you stay with me for awhile?”

Wow – talk about a needy vulnerable Bette. “Sure Babe – I’ll stay with you…” Tina got into bed with Bette and snuggled up behind her. “Sleep Baby…go to sleep…” Within moments Bette was sound asleep. Tina smiled as she thought about eight little hands, eight little feet, forty little fingers, forty little toes, 300,000 diaper changes, no sleep. Her face grew pale – “Oh my God – this is going to be alot to deal with.” Then Tina smiled again. “All we really need to do is love them – the rest will fall into place. ” Tina caressed Bette’s hair. “We’ll be great Baby….just fine……wow…four of them! We never have to worry about keeping them occupied as they get older – built in best friends. FOUR of them – wow!” Tina closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep – until of course, the silence was shattered by the screams of Dylan and the soft cry of Taylor. Tina got up – kissed Bette on the cheek and then went off to feed the babies.

As Tina fed the babies her thoughts drifted to the shower Alice and the gang were having for them tomorrow. She couldn’t wait to drop the bomb. “this is going to be great!” She focused her energy back on the twins.
