I shut the door and climb behind the wheel. “All good to go?” I ask looking back at Cole in my rearview mirror then looking over at Angie.

“All good mommy!” Cole says from the back.

As we drive I notice the time reads five o’clock and when I reach the main road from Kit’s street, I realize it’s rush hour.

“So how was school today?” I ask and look over at Angie.

“The same as always.” She responds.

“Just the same? Nothing new? Any homework for tonight?” I ask her questions.

“Well yeah, I have to do a few books. Is Mama B coming over tonight?”

“I’m not sure honey, I only talked to Mama B for a little while on the phone today. I’m sure if you ask her she will be happy to come over, baby.”

I step up to Tina’s door and give a slight knock before entering.

Once my foot enters inside the door my body gets attacked by a jumping Cole who plants himself half way in my arms.

“My man!” I say with excitement in my voice and give him a tight squeeze.

“I missed you!” Cole says before giving my cheek a gentle peck.

“I missed you too my little man.” I say before putting him back on his feet.

“Mama B!”

My head lifts and I see Angie speed walking towards me with open arms.

“Hey my girl.” I say pulling her into a hug and giving the side of her head a kiss.

“Mom! Mama B is here!” Angie calls out while pulling away from my embrace.

“Be right there, I’m just doing something!” I hear Tina’s voice call back from up the stairs.

“How was school today my Angel?” I ask her with a smile.

“It was ok, I’m just trying to finish up my homework.”

“Hey Bette.”

I look up from Angie to see Tina walking into the room holding a box.

“Hey T.” I point to the box with a questionable expression. “What are you doing, what is that?” I ask.

“I’m just sorting through some old stuff for Angie.” She says as I watch her place the box on the table.

“For you?” I look at Angie.

“Yeah, I have a project that is due sometime this week. I need to find baby and family photos, so mom is fetching some for me to look through.” Angie says looking between me and her mother.
