    Pieces of Time, Chapter II

“Can I invite her over tonight?”

    “Of course.” I say.

“Mama B isn’t the greatest of a cook. She’s probably very hungry.”

“I’m sure Mama B is managing baby. Now eat up, we have to get going.” I say packing her lunch bag into her back pack.

    …

“James, tell Michael Sanders we have to reschedule our meeting.”

    “Ok.” He says nodding.

    “Oh and James.”

    He turns back around. “Yes?”

“Any calls from Tina or the kids let me know right away.”

He nods his head and exits himself from the room.

I sit here going through papers when my door opens.

    “Alice?”

“Hello miss “too busy for friends’”. ”

“I’m sorry. I’ve been just so cramped with work.”

I watch as she slips a piece of paper on my desk.

“What is it?” I say grabbing it.

“It’s so you have no excuse that you forgot.”

“Alice, I don’t have the time for get togethers.”

“Bette, you have to start socializing. It’s going to be a Saturday night and plus you have to get back on the market before you dry up like a nun.”

    “I also have kids Alice.”

“You’ll figure something out, Bette. You have not pulled yourself from this office in two full weeks. You have to get away from this depressing state.”

“Alright, fine. I’ll see what I can do.”

“Great. Remember, tomorrow night at 9, Hit. Be there.”

I watch Alice step out of my offie and I throw myself back into my chair and sigh.

My brain starts to think about Tina.

But I push my thoughts away, I lean back up to look down at the papers in front of me but then shortly come to the realization that I have no focus on these papers that I stare at.

I had lied to Alice when I told her that I’ve had nothing but cramped work.

The truth is..It helps me forget about thoughts of Tina. The sex with her. The passion. I know I have to move on but it’s a lot harder than I had imagined. Maybe she was right when she said the sex was starting to get out of emotional control.

My thoughts come to an ending when I hear a knock and James opens the door.

I hate that they are divorced and i know there will be a happy end, but for now it sucks.

Tina had a point that they needed to stop the sex in order to move on, but i absolutely hate it there will be others before they see the light and move on together as a couple.
