    Planet Terror: Everybody Dies

    Bones sinkin like stones

    All that we fall for

    Homes places we’ve grown

All of us are done for…

We live in a beautiful world…

Bette and Shane stood together amidst the gore and ruins of what had once been a beautiful island. Bette’s hands rested lightly on the tops of her swords, her head so light she could barely see clearly.  Shane’s face bled from a deep wound, diagonal across her forehead and cheek, but having missed her eye, it caused little serious damage.  Certainly neither woman felt the wounds on their bodies as deeply as they felt the wounds within.

Behind them, Alice was tied to a tree.  She had grown quiet, curiously watching the ground writhing and rotting around them.

They watched as the boat carrying their friends churned the water into pink and white froth, gradually disappearing from view.

Moments earlier, Helena sailed out of Bette’s life.  They kissed and embraced for as long as they could, but try as they might, they could not stop time.

“Promise that you’ll come for me.” Helena said angrily. This had not been her fucking idea.  Her hands firmly grasped Bette’s shoulders, nearly hurting her.  “Promise me that you’ll find us.”

Bette promised, though the words sounded hollow.

When their entire crew, with the exception Peggy, the baby, Lara, Helena and Shane, were all either killed or thoroughly infected, they had to chose their course.  Alice needed medical attention, and the elusive cure was still on the horizon.

“I’ll stay with her…” Bette surveyed the dying masses at her feet.  Her hands, strong and sure, held Alice back from the others.  The shorter blonde was hissing and frothing, her eyes blood red, her hands scratching and flailing.

Catherine and Dylan were missing.  No one wanted to search piles of bodies for them—the thought alone was too depressing.

Hundreds were dead, shot execution style by Bette and Shane when the needles ran out.  What was left of the antidote was held in Bette’s needles—her little friends, safely stowed away on her thigh.

Jenny had run, as soon as the infected birds joined the ranks of infected humans, and she had leapt into a small raft—again.  She floated away, laughing maniacally—again. And once again, she carried two large hunting knives, which she waved around herself like a fool.  Nonetheless, they were all fairly certain that she would show up again somewhere.  Jenny was a bit like a bad cold or chest infection. Or perhaps she was like a flu pandemic, or a spot.  Either way, she cropped up here and there, refusing to leave for good.

    1. hb… I’ve missed this story loads. And now I’m all sad… Bette *has* to find a cure, her farewell to Helena had me a bit trembly-lipped. And I’m sorry Al got bitten. I can only hope Jenny does keep turning up, like a spot, and brings something GOOD back with her. Shane’s nonchalance about Alice eating “whatever” worries me greatly, for some reason. Okay, more soon, I hope your computer doesn’t go wonky again. Cheers

    2. I’m glad the “Everybody Dies” title is a big tease because the chapter is angsty enough without a wholesale character genocide deepening the gloom. Luckily, Planet Terror’s resident loonie could be counted on to provide much-needed comic relief. Like Jenny herself, I found myself laughing maniacally at the image of her doing the raft thing all over again. I can picture her ending up as the story’s sole survivor, not unlike a cockroach. Yikes.

    3. That had me all watery-eyed…and once again with ur oh-so-famous ominous tones…she has to find a cure, seriously because this is so…idk, sad and crazy and brilliant…pps.

    4. i’m not an L word writer…if i were, i would entitle something ‘everyone dies’ and actually mean it. i’m sure IC has been tempted once or twice to just kill off the entire cast.

    5. One can hope that with nothing but knifeplay to pass the time Jenny might inadvertantly deflate her raft. Or maybe she’ll just go back to cutting cause it’s fun (if you’re Jenny). And Kit was quite radical with her desire to blow up banks. Even Patty Hurst, Cinque, and the rest of the SLA settled for robbing them while armed with automatic weapons. And Shane turns out to be a latter day incarnation of Edie Sedgwick. Such a curious world you depict, HB. So glad you’re back with this. As my mother used to say when she wanted us to hurry: get a wiggle on. That applies to both you and Bette in her search for a cure. May Alice soon be off her leash.

    6. Frankly, I think IC has more or less killed the show in total rather than one character at a time. While I look forward to the new season in the hope that all shall be redeemed (as Anthony Newley used to sing “What kind of fool am I?”). But truth be told, every time I saw a rerun from last season available I chose to watch something else.

    7. Damn Helebette!!! What are you doing here woman? LOL!!!! This is really an incredibly crazy story! I hope you can post SOON! As for Jenny…GRRR…I cannot stand her in anything, albeit the show or fan fic. Anyway, get your butt back here girl.

    8. Jenny was a bit like a bad cold, or a chest infection ….. ROFL! … Babe, how could you stop there, really? seriously? I mean … what’s gonna happen to the guys on the boat, what’s waiting for them? is Bette gonna save the world by suddenly becoming a scientific officionado … find out on the next installment of PT!! … hehe, think i’d make a good creepy voice over?? :-D

    9. Hello HB, this story is kicking so much @$$, you really are throwing everything into your stories lately, actually you always throw everything in, digging deeper into the well with each new chapter. I don’t think there are any genre films left to mold into your wickedly crafty mind. Hehe, you bring out the fun and enjoyments, making it feel like a movie on paper, I can actually see everything you have written as your words hold a vivid chaos to them. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Sincerely, JC
