Planet Terror: On the Road Again
Well goodnight moon
I want the sun
If it’s not here soon
I might be done
No it won’t be too soon ’til I say
Goodnight moon
One month later…
It was just after dawn, a month to the day that Dakota was killed. Shockingly, no more infected had shown—but the sun was baking the bodies on the field and highway. Every day, the stench worsened.
The smell was distinctly chemical. There were guards who returned from front line duty complaining of a cough and fever after every shift. At night, a faint green haze could be seen hovering over the bodies of the infected.
After her last fight, Bette kept Helena far from the front lines. She redrew their lines so that they lost fifty yards of useful beach. The fevers were beginning to worry her greatly.
On this morning, Bette woke with a start. She had slept dreamlessly for weeks, and now this: in her nightmares, she couldn’t defeat the infected. The entire front guard had turned at once, and had turned on her. Her last image before waking had been of Helena—her eyes milky and lost, the child inside of her infected.
Helena was awakened by Bette’s sobs. Bette tried to keep herself quiet, pressing her hands hard against her mouth—but she was shaking the bed with her crying.
“Sweetheart? What is it?” Helena reached out to rub Bette’s back, willing her to be calm. Bette threw off the covers, got herself up, and walked towards their fresh water supply. She splashed her face and angrily wiped her eyes with a tshirt.
“I’m sorry Helena. You need your sleep, and you don’t need to worry about me waking you up because of a stupid dream.” Bette climbed back into bed, breathing deeply, her chest hitching.
“Bette, that’s ridiculous. I don’t need to be protected from your needs or worries. What did you dream about?” Helena sighed in frustration when Bette refused to answer her. “Ooook, great. Don’t share. Fine. The world has ended and I’ve found myself with the last of the great non-communicators.”
Bette’s eyes were hurt when she finally looked at Helena. “Sorry.” Helena said quietly. “I didn’t really mean that. I just wish you’d talk to me more. Ever since Dakota’s death, you’ve been keeping things from me.” Helena gazed at Bette’s naked shoulders and long back. She ran a finger tips over Bette, feeling muscle under smooth and beautiful brown skin. The blanket was low on Helena’s hips. Her breasts and belly were exposed. The baby was still, for now, though she had kicked up a fuss during the night.

From Bette’s hilarious faux pas with the gun to Helena’s heart-stopping close call, this story has it all! If Planet Terror is VERY F*** ridiculous, then it’s F*** ridiculous is a VERY good way.
im with funnyone what the hell are they thinkin leaving helena alone in the basement. i can’t wait to see where u take this. i really hope the baby is ok.
I must admit I really like this story. It’s so bizzard it good. And one of the best lines in it “Dylan, I’m sorry, but I am going to have to kill you.” she said it so calm. I was like damn Bette have a heart, but it was just a case of food poisoning. I’m also glad they decided to leave, the refugees are starting to get restless which in itself can cause alot of problems. I also have notice as well that you seem to have a thing for The Clash which seem to work well in your stories. Keep up the good work I can’t wait for your next update.
You’re killing me … actually … and slowly too. :( Seems to me baby has good reason to be pissed, heh .. have to calm enough to think and leave you a comment, uh .. please don’t hurt Bette, Helena or the baby? pleeeeaaassseeeeeee? Maybe bub will be early, stress levels and all, so long as it doesn’t come out biting on it’s way out, that would be bad. Great, Love It, Please Write More :-D
Well shit, the baby is probably A. disturbed by all the commotion, and B. disturbed that the adults she’ll be born to are so fucking silly as to leave Helena alone in the basement and to ignore that sound in the bedroom, which they should have reconnoiterd in the first place! I guess Bette learned not to have such and itchy trigger finger with Dylan. Jesus, isn’t food poisoning bad enough? It probably didn’t help with the overall smell of the camp, but it served Bette right to nearly blast her own ass off. I enjoyed the brief guest appearance by The Clash, but why didn’t they put sagacious Jenny on the speaker’s roster?
OMFG! They almost shot my girl! Shit! Now, the baby is probably ready to make an early appearance! Man, you’ve got me all riled up and anxious! I am sitting here reading this and saying, “F*ck! Don’t you bite Helena! Kill that f*cker, Helena! Kill her” LOL! Please post again soon. This is really good! I have to prepare myself before reading the updates to this story. LOL! I am such a scaredy-cat. I don’t want anything to happen to my girls. I am still believing in a happy ending! Does that make me just plain ole crazy?
You did it again, helebette. I had that sense of dread the whole chapter, and then there it was, zombie woman nearly got Helena, and my heart was in my throat. Loved the update, more please!
The baby is the new generation for them. They are brave souls. to try to get to safe places. Really should not have use the word soul. that is for the passing . Fuel food snd a generator. they made a good haul. The baby is under stress. Helena should let the able body one do that. thanks
They left her alone!!!! How could they do that? I nearly had a heart attack. Don’t do this to me!!! Wonderfully crazy.
