    Posthumous Wisdom (15)

Sunday mornings when Angelica was with Bette had become a part of the week which Tina dreaded.  They served to remind her of the life she once had and as the days wore on the life she was starting to realise she still craved.  Now, she either woke up alone in the house where she and Angelica lived which despite her best efforts although comfortable still did not quite feel like home or for the past couple of months she awoke in Karen’s bed feeling guilty that she wasn’t as happy to be there as she should have been.  Today was the first option.

The only benefit of not having Angelica with her was being able to sleep in.  The temptation to roll over and try and sleep the remainder of her Sunday away was great but Tina had made a commitment to her therapist that her ostrich tendencies were behind her.  She intended to remove her head from the metaphorical sand and actively pursue her own happiness.  With that thought in mind she arranged to meet the person who ironically could maybe be the one to help her figure things out.

    “Hello”

    “Helena Hi, it’s Tina”

“Oh how are you?  This is a nice surprise.”

“Yeah, listen I was wondering if you weren’t busy if maybe you’d be interested in lunch?”

“Oh yes absolutely, I was actually thinking I might need a friend in a little while, I’m sitting here preparing to read Dana’s letter to me.”

“Oh wow, sorry I don’t want to interrupt”

“No, not at all Tina, like I said I’m just about to read it now but then I’d love some company, I suspect I’ll be glad of it.  Why don’t you come here for lunch about two?

“Ok perfect, if you’re sure that would be great.”

“Of course I’m sure.  I look forward to seeing you in a little while”

Tina was pleased, getting out of the house was just what she needed.  She smiled as she thought about the equal footing on which Helena now found herself with the group.  Going to her house could be a casual thing now that it didn’t involve driving over to millionaire’s row by the beach. Peggy seemed to have found the happy medium with her errant daughter since the debacle with Catherine’s money.  Once the criminal proceedings had been put to rest with God only knows what Peabody influence, Peggy had decided that leaving Helena completely financially insolvent was good for nobody.  Everyone had been surprised when she had offered Helena the position in the Peabody Foundation.  They were even more surprised that Helena accepted given it came with an ordinary salary and no added benefits despite her heritage.

    1. Another great chapter! Loved Dana’s letter to Helena. It really spoke well to another area that the show didn’t cover with Dana and her illness. You are doing an amazing job with all the letters. I also like how these letters are allowing everyone to explore their lives and see the good and bad in them and try to change. Thanks for the update! PPS!

    2. yay!Although I wasn’t too keen on the Tina-Helena relationship I like the Tina-Helena friendship. I wish they’d explored it more. And even if I really really like Jodi, I think Tina and Bette are really meant to be with each other. hehehe I’m glad u updated! loved it as usual:D PPS;)

    3. Your writing is great, especially the emotion captured in each letter… again demonstrated by Dana’s letter to Helena. Its so good that Tina and Helena have the kind of relationship that honesty with each other comes so easily. Another excellent update… Thanks. Keep on posting… I’m loving each word.

    4. That’s good that she’s hopelessly in-love with Bette; and maybe over her anger? which btw she had every right to feel as a consequence of B’s infidelity, that’s my opinion anywayz.
