    Bette makes a discovery.

    “Baby, relax.”

     

    “I can’t, Tee.” 

     

    Tina rolled over in bed to face her.  “Do you want me to help you relax?”  Her eyes softened.  Tina couldn’t believe that she and Bette were finally sharing a bed night after night again.  She hadn’t made the big move back into the house.  They were just now starting over, dating exclusively, and on the ‘forever and always’ track, but hadn’t taken the next step.  It was just too soon, but she knew that eventually, they’d share one home as they had for seven years and then after a separation, shared again for several months, before dysfunction and doubt had overtaken them.

     

    Bette sighed and turned so that her back was to Tina.  She couldn’t keep doing this to her.  They were supposed to be like newlyweds, but Tina was taking on a maternal role.  Bette didn’t want this.  She wanted this third time around for them to succeed and placing Tina in the role of nurturer would only lead to failure.  They’d fall back into their old roles.  It’s just that she hurt so badly.  “I know you’re sick of hearing about this,” she said almost to herself.  “I know you want me to get up, get out, go to the CU and face the music, but I can’t right now.  I just can’t deal with the public humiliation.” 

     

    Tina gently rubbed Bette’s shoulder.  “It’s hard, Bette, but you’ve dealt with worse shit before.  Fuck, baby, you dealt with losing your Dad, losing your job, me getting sick when I was in labor, and a new baby all in ten days.  What Jodi did sucks, but it’s not the worst thing you’ve had to face.”

     

    Bette rolled back, faced her new, old lover, pressed her body against Tina’s and let her comfort her.  She mumbled into Tina’s chest, “You’re right.  I just don’t get it.  When Jodi and I talked that day, you know, after leaving the Planet, she wanted to go to work with me.  She said we’d talk after I took a meeting and we’d do it somewhere public because she wouldn’t humiliate herself in front of people.”  Bette sniffed.  “She had no qualms whatsoever about ripping me to shreds in public.  Bitch.”  Bette’s arm reached out and put her hand on Tina’s shoulder, pulling herself closer to her.  She needed Tina’s warmth.  “It’s such a strange way to end a relationship, isn’t it?  Jodi was always so cavalier about being with me.”  Bette shook her head awkwardly as she was on her side.  “I mean, she could be passionate, but we were never intimate, we never had that. . . that closeness.  She never made herself vulnerable with me, and I-I don’t think I did that with her.  It was never, not once like what we have or had.  And, you know, Jodi talked about the hearts she had broken left and right.  When she first hooked up with me, she had this fight with Amy.  Remember you met her a few weeks ago at that dinner?”

    6. Fantastic!! I’m with everyone else, I REALLY REALLY want to read about Phyllis’s reaction, and what happens with the culprits! I personally think all the video and recording was Max, because if I remember correctly at the beginning of the season when Max and Tom were at The Planet, Tom made some comment about not knowing anything about all Max’s equipment. Please don’t end it here! Thanks!

    8. Oh, this is very intersting. I kind of wondered during the show how Jodi did that knowing that she can not hear. How did she get the images and sounds. But that is ic’s world and it does not always make sense.

    9. The show bothered me and your explanation is BRILLIANT! I love how Bette put it together. I can’t wait for it all to roll down, so I am hoping this wasn’t the end. Bette and Tina’s flirtations during the conversation are PERFECT!

Love the background and the unfolding of their twisted tale. Would love to see this played out on the show. They may want to take along a toy to occupy Angie also….

Yeah I wondered about the Max/Tom hookup; and how Jodi got that installation exhibit thingy 2gether. Plz finish it, one more chapters all. I don’t get it about Angie staying in her car seat though????

    13. Scathingly brilliant ideas from Bette and Tina. I, too, had been wondering about that show and how jodi could have done it w/o being able to hear and how she was able t get Bette’s words and picture captured when they were at the house talking about the breakup. Jodi did not have a camera then or so we thought. Max the sneaky little scumbag. This is the same crap Mark did to Shane, Carmen and Jenny. Awwwww, let Phyllis do her thing as well, Heads Will Roll, Kroll needs to get into the act now and work her magic. Jodi, Tom and Max might want to apply to McDonald’s, or Wal-Mart because those are the only jobs they will find in the future. Can hardly wait to read the next chapter. PPS

    14. aha, a worthwhile source for sleep deprivation….50 some odd pages, whew (this story & Laid Up)…by the cheeky reference to that story w/ Bette laughing about Angelica staying in her car seat, I can only assume that all will be fine with Boo in that story?….and now for this one, AWESOME! you know i was just thinking about Jodi’s piece at The Hammer and wondering about it, this totally would work….we’ll probably never get any explanation like this or at all, which is frustrating because this does present a lot of questions & i think that you answered them in a very plausible way, thanks for this!

    20. wow I wasn’t sure where you were going but it was great. You brought up some part of season 3 which I have suppressed like an old childhood memory but I was surprised at the reveal of Tom and Max as the culprits. I wondered about the sound in Jodi’s “sculpture” as well as where the hell she got the images? these sort of things are just not explained on the show, but you pulled it off. great job. If you have it in you, maybe you could tell us what happens when Jodi is confronted.

    23. Awesome. If only this could happen on the show.. and then Jodi would be on her way forever. Her entire storyline has been a waste of screentime, utter disappointment, and horribly acted. This finally tries to string threads together than IC left hanging. Plus, Tina is alive.. and B/T are hot so those things always make me happy.

    26. Theirs the Bette Porter we know and love, and with Alpha Tina by her side, those three are done. You must finish this. I thought about the piece too, how did Jodi do it when she can’t hear. I never liked Tom and am not overly fond of Max.

    27. Hey Portia, Thank you for this awesome new and short adventure. I love how you cpatured the essence of Bette and Tina’s reconnection. They are both working hard at moving forward without making the same mistakes as the past. Then Tom and Max’s betrayal was genius. Jodi as a fake and phony was really shocking although kinda explained a lot. Please continue this tall tale as I wanna know what Bette does to pay Tom, Max and Jodi back. Also, it would be bliss to see how Alpha-Bette’s resurgence affects Bette and Tina’s physical relationship. I am hoping for some hot and steamy sex scenes as Bette wortks through her fury. I do think Tina could move on from the nurturer role and show Bette her mettle by defending “Lez Girls” and makmning sure Jenny’s vision arrives at the cinema scene unchanged. More puh-lease as I just love the way you write. Such reality and honesty. Many thanks for this awesome adventure just say it isn’t over. Your Loyal Fan.
