    Chapter 7

     

    The weekend had only brought more questions, questions that she was unable to answer. Now, standing here, she didn’t know if this was where she would find the answers but it was all she had. She had wanted to give Bette time, to let her be the one to pick up the phone when she was ready to talk.

     

    After seven years of knowing exactly where her wife was and speaking to her every day, three days apart was too much.  That was the real reason why Tina was here, she wanted answers to her questions but more simply she needed to know that Bette was okay.

     

    Both her and Bette had done things she never thought they would be capable of doing. Bette had cheated on her, and she had walked out. Bette had not tried to offer an explanation as to why she had done what she had and Tina had not asked for one. She had simply left.

     

    She left the love of her life, her wife, after she had cheated on her. Regardless of any reasons in its simplest form that is what each of them had done. Three days. Three days too long to leave things as they were.

     

    Tina had looked around to make sure no one she knew was there, she had come here for answers not questions. It was late in the morning and she hoped that her excuse of avoiding the morning traffic had been enough to placate Alice‘s curiosity and she hadn’t secretly followed her to find out where she was going. The coast was clear, and as she rounded the corner she saw her.

     

    When Bette had gotten up this morning the possibility of seeing her had not even been born. She was gong to go to work, make it through the day, come home, go to sleep, and repeat the exact same process in the morning. Going through the motions. That’s what she had been doing all weekend. Only now she hoped that it would be easier because at least here she would have the distraction of work.

     

    As much as she had appreciated Kit’s concern it had at times felt as though she was hovering over her every move. Though she never said it Bette knew that Kit had expected her to at least call Tina even if she had thought it would be better if she went over to see her.

    4. excellent update! you were sneaky there in the beginning making me think tina and bette were meeting. then you had tina waiting for her at the house. oh the suspense….i hope all their questions are answered. good luck with your papers.

    7. Just caught up on this chapter and the last. Both were excellent chapters! You have a captivating story here. After reading the last chapter, I thought that the person Bette saw was Candace but was actually hopint that it would be Tina. At the beginning of this chapter, you had me thinking that it was Tina only to turn around and have Tina waiting for Bette at home at the end! Looking forward to the next chapter.
