    Reflections Chapter 2

Alice walked to her car, her usual in your face personality back in place to everyone else she was acting normal but she dreaded coming into contact with any of her friends she knew they’d see through her charade in a moment. She sat in her car and ran her hands through her hair, why did you run, you wanted to stay, you owe the cat killer nothing then she remembered how she’d felt when Shane had told her about Gabby cheating on her how it’d felt as if someone had administered a blow to her insides and despite her pure loathing for Tonya she realised that she couldn’t inflict the pain she’d felt on anyone else.

She felt the tears well into her eyes and she allowed them to fall. The one thought running through her head was you’re such a dummy to beleive you can stop these feelings, you and Dana need to talk, to end it no that’s unthinkable I don’t want to go there, she’s got to leave Tonya its the only answer she’ll see its the kind thing to do, wait what if she won’t what if she really loves her god can I really ***** her life up what if this is just a moment what if she’s her soul mate, at this thought she looked in the mirror, with a wicked grin on her face nah the girl’s toast. She picked her phone up and dialled Dana’s number tapping her fingers on the dash board impatiently as she waited for the connection.

In the locker room Dana stood in the exact place she’d been ever since Alice ran out, she’d removed her phone from the bag along with her sweat towel and was at this moment staring intently at the screen willing it to ring when it did she nearly dropped it in shock, when she saw the number on the display she hesitated a moment then pressed to reject the call, I just can’t deal with her now, I need a shower, god I need a shrink people will think I’ve gone crazy I’m stood in a locker room towel on my head staring at my phone waiting for Alice to call and tell me she wants to talk.

As the phone was about to connect Alice lost her nerve and ended the call. I don’t know what to do I’d usually call Dana but that’s not an option, I wait I can’t keep running we need to talk, I’m going back in. Decision made she retraces her path praying that Dana hasn’t slipped out the side exit as she’s about to open the door its swung back with such force that she nearly falls backwards but she manages to steady herself just in time.

“Nice move Dana trying to kill me won’t stop us having the talk you know.”
“Alice, I sorry I thought you’d gone, what are you doing back?”

Alice looked ar her blustering goofy friend, “You’re so ***** cute do you know that?”
Dana stops mid sentence at her words blushes and then shrugs her shoulders in that slightly embarrassed way she has that used to bug the ***** out of Alice but now she finds endearing.

“Shall we go to my place then?”
“Is that a come-on Al because it sounds like a throw away line from an 80′s teen flick any minute now Simple Minds will start playing.”
Alice can’t help but laugh at Dana’s ever accurate assesment of the situation, she begins to sing “Don’t you forget about me” grabs Dana by the arm and steers her towards her car.
“We’ll go in mine we can collect your’s later, wait Tina’s at mine still in bits about the break up, the last thing she needs is our angst to depress her even more.”
“We can’t go to mine Tonya’s due back , great we can’t even find anywhere to be alone, that’s so not what I meant to say.”
“Relax, breathe, leave it to me.”

Alice quickly dials Bette at work, to be informed by James that she’s in a major meeting, she ends the call., is this a conspiracy, she dials her number expecting Tina to answer but after she hears her jovial smart ***** message informing her that she may return your call if she thinks your important enough, success, apartment free, a little voice at the back of her head worries slightly were Tina could be then she mentally slaps herself, duh major meeting more like peace talks are in progress she reckons its anything other than peaceful.

She opens her car and tells Dana to get in. She’s got some talks of her own to attend to.
