Alice was lying in her bed with the covers over her head. Her phone began to go off, and she groaned. She grabbed her phone and looked at it. She sighed as she answered it.

“Hello?” She said groggily.

“Hey, wake up. It’s one-thirty in the afternoon.” Shane said on the other line.

“What do you want Shane?”

“We’re going out tonight. I want you up and moving around.”

“Shane—I really don’t want to be bothered.”

“You can’t hide forever. You have to get out and socialize.”

“Well I don’t want to socialize.”

“Well guess what—you are.” Alice looked towards her door when she heard her buzzer go off.

“What the f—I’m not answering the door.”

“Oh yeah, you are.” Shane began to bang on the door. “C’mon Al—I’ll keep doing this all day and night til you come to the door.”

“Go away Shane!” Alice hung up her phone and buried herself under the covers.

“I’m not leaving. Alice!” Alice threw her covers off and got out of bed. She walked to her door and opened it. Shane smiled at a weary Alice in blue with clouds pajamas. She smiled harder. “Nice pjs.”

“You’re an asshole.” Alice dragged her body back into bed and plopped down on the mattress. “I just want to be left alone.” Shane plopped on the bed next to Alice and rested her hands behind her head.

“I want you to get out of this apartment and have fun again. I don’t want you to be in here all alone. I miss my Al. I want my Al back.” Shane cuddled against Alice and wrapped her arms around her. “I want my wing man back.” Alice cracked a smile and wrapped her arm around Shane.

“I guess it won’t hurt to go out for a while.”

“Yay!” Shane shrieked like a little kid. Alice closed her eyes and shook her head.

“What are we doing tonight?”

“We’re going on a double date.” Alice pulled away from Shane.

“I’m not going on a double date. I’m not doing it. No, I won’t.”

“C’mon Al. You need to get out. You need to meet new people. You need to get your mind off of Dana.”
