    Reprisal Reprised- Chapter 3

After checking into her hotel, Tina and Shane decided to go to the bar for a drink.

Once situated and drinks sitting in front of them, both women simply looked at the other, neither sure where to begin.

“So” began Shane.  “How’s life in New York been?”

“Well” said Tina, pausing to collect her thoughts.  “Good.  I mean, I have some really good friends that I have made over the years and my work is as crazy there as it ever was here.”

    “Do you ever miss LA?”

Looking at Shane with a quizzical expression on her face, she just said “What do you think?”

    “Honestly?  I don’t know.  That’s why I’m asking.”

“Shane, how could you ever think that I wouldn’t miss LA?  I mean, this is the place that I have always considered home.  My family and friends are here, the best years of my life were spent here.  *****” she laughed, her chuckle filled with irony, “this is the place that I thought that I would be raising a family.  Raising a family with” she trailed off.  “Well, you know the with whom part.  Actually, I think we all know the with whom part”

Shane sat there for a moment before she responded.

“I figured that to be the case, but like I said, I just wasn’t sure.”

“Do you doubt me?” Tina asked quietly.

“No T” said Shane as she smiled at her.  “I would never doubt you.  I guess that it’s just that, well, you’ve been gone for a long time and it’s hard to read into that.  I mean, no one’s heard anything from you in over 7 months, with the exception of me and that stopped 5 months ago.”

“I know” was all Tina said, head bowed, sadness prevalent in her voice.

“Where did you go?  What happened to you” Shane quietly asked.

Tina said nothing, just looked at the puddles forming on the table top from her glass.  Shane was about to repeat the question when she heard Tina speak up.

“I had to go away Shane.”

Not sure that she had understood what she had said, Shane said, “What T?  You had to do what?”

    1. I guess it is better that you don’t write novels!? I’d be racing through them at breakneck speed…Seriously, SO glad you decided to begin this story – it is excellent as always. Perhaps the next could be you and tiff writing together???
      Thanks, skipton!

    2. as much as i love your writing dear woman, i dont think i can read this. it seems like its just gonna be too hard. really hard. but i know i wont be able to stay away but i really want to. sometimes the drama here is so thick you cant even breathe. so heap it on. and btw i loved it. thanks.

    3. questions – have they separated there house, gallery. it was in both there names in tiffs story. is it the same here. if not leaves lots of interpretation. is T going to the alice thing friday night. i mean is it gonna be one of these things where she just is there but doesnt just go and do what she said she wanted to do. just curious.

    4. sad..very sad..but Bette dosent end her chat with Leee saying “i love you”..this a good thing..lol..hope Tina talk to Bette soon and you post soon as well

    5. I like how you had Tina initially refuse to see Bette. Even funnier that she thought that Allison wanted to go back to LA and start a life with Bette herself!

Tina is going to have a tough row to hoe with Bette. She refused to see her when she came after her but not wants to talk to Bette after 7 months. I imagine Bette’s fears are going to run deep, Tina left her not once, but twice. Her fear that Tina would leave again would be foremost in her mind, I would think.

Is Tina going to just show up at Alice’s unannounced, or will one of the family know that she is coming? Yeah, there’s going to be some tension in the near future I do believe.

    6. sorry for typing without capitals, but i busted a finger at handball practice yesterday and it’s kind of hard to type…

“do you doubt me?” if tina had asked me that question, i would’ve gone with something like
“i didn’t. up until the point you left….. again.”
good for tina that shane is much more ‘gracious’ than that =P

some people were complaining that greentea’s tina was bordering on psychotic, well this one beat her to it! she’s definitely taking that award home… wherever ‘home’ is for her these days, despite what she told shane. i mean, she talks and talks and talks, but who knows what she’s really trying to say?

it gets tiring, always having to figure her out, not knowing how she’s going to react.

eek, so bette’s doing a clingy-witty-annoying-lawyer type now?
at first, i was going to say: how the hell can she love the moments she spends together with this monster, but then i thought about it and i guess that makes sense.

it’s easy to be with the bitch-lawyer. she doesn’t have to do anything, really. just get intoxicated, exchange a few smart sentences and sleep with her. so much easier than falling in love, huh?

i’m not angry with either of them. i’m just terribly frustrated.

so i beg you, give us some closure this time! i mean, not next chapter, but you know, at the end.

because, letting go is hard and painful and all kinds of bad feelings. but somehow they’re getting to a point where being together is even worse.

… which is why tina left in the first place! yeah, i know. buuut, it’s not just the fact that she left, it’s the way she did it. if she keeps going away, closing the door behind her and throwing away the key… *sighs* at some point she won’t be able go back.

i just hope they still haven’t reached that point. wait, i do believe they still haven’t reached that point, or else there would be no point in writing this story in the first place, right?

argh, i’m just so confused right now. i’m not making any sense even to myself.

    7. I’ll just come out and say it: I’m not liking this Tina very much. I think she’s selfish and inconsiderate of Bette’s feelings.
If you’re done (and turning Bette away twice when she came to New York would be a good indicator of that), then you’re through. She could stay in New York and write a letter. Or send a card. There are all kinds of new age cards for disparate occasions now. I’m sure there’s one to celebrate, “I fucked with your mind and now I want a reprise.”

I’m only this upset because you write so well. Consider it a compliment that I care enough to send Tina my very best discontent.
And I need to eat dinner.Where’s Lee?

      I’m available, baby!

      Thanks, Skipton!

    8. K,
so Tina leaves bette in the middle of the night and then refuses to see her not once, but twice. well, I think Tina should have a REALLY, REALLY tough time getting through to Bette. not for the sake of retaliation, but simply because she must be totally sure that she knows what the hell she wants. so I am prepared for this story to unfold with as much drama and angst that is needed to get these 2 back together for good. so carry on my dear. Love your style of writing. pls do not leave us suspense for long.

    9. Skip…I am so glad that you had Bette go out to NY to search for Tina…I’m not sure why that was really important to me…but it was, so you rock for keeping that!!!! And Bette is, “just”…just going to be pissed, I’m thinking. But I can’t wait to see the reunion…how shocked is Bette going to be! How annoyed is Lee going to be? I’m not seeing a Sunday brunch with Lee…

@Tiff…you are right, trusting Skip with your storyline was a no-brainer! Lucky for me…I get both of you!!!!!

    10. hmm…Bette went all the way to NY to see her TWICE…and she won’t allow..and now she wants to see her..*heart-breaking* do post soon..!!!wonder how’s Bette reaction when she sees her Tina.

    11. Ooooooooooooooh this is gonna be sooooooooooooooo good, but I can tell were all in for some heavy drama, stress, anxiety, you name it I feel it coming our way. I know that eventually our girls will get together, but I also know that your going to make us squirm with every chapter. I gotta agree with the others. Bette went to New York twice even after Tina snuck out in the middle of the night, and still she brushed her off. Damn that was cold, but hey now I want to talk to you and explain. I hope my heart can take it.

    12. We need some good ‘ole suspense music playing in the background.

Great update Skippy. Personally, if I were Bette, I would be terrified of seeing Tina; we know how neurotic Porter can be.
This trip down memory lane is all about Tina because I dont recall it being mentioned that she put any thought into what Bette may feel…..after all, she was with the woman for damn near 8 yrs.
Tina should have enough sense to know this shit aint gonna be peachy.
