    Reunion

"For every action, there’s an equal and opposite reaction," Bette said, pulling away slightly to offer the observation.
"You’re a quick learner too," Tina smiled.
    "I have a good teacher."
"I’m going to give you a new appreciation for the concept of friction."
"It’s seeming like a stroke of genius for me to be dating a physicist," Bette said.
    "Many practical applications," Tina agreed.
Their lazy weekend continued as they made love, talked, and simply held each other. Every hour they spent together disappeared in a blur. The hours they had yet to spend apart were likely now to feel like months. That’s relativity.

"Okay, even I’m exhausted," Tina was on her side with one arm slung over Bette’s abdomen. "We should think about dinner. I’m getting hungry."
"There’s a great Thai place a couple blocks away." Bette said. "And I know they deliver."
She reached to pull the sheet over them as they talked.
"Who’s being shy now?" Tina asked, even as she assisted in bringing it higher.
"Not shy, but it’s a bit cool in here," Bette said. "Do you still want to shower?"
"We can place a dinner order, then have a quick shower to warm up," Tina suggested. "I imagine it’ll take at least an hour for delivery."
At that moment, Tina’s phone indicated an incoming text message. She reached to the bedside table and looked at the screen.
"It’s Alice," Tina said. She went on to relay the contents of the message. "She wants to know how our date was last night."
"Give me the phone," Bette said. "I’ll write back."
"No way," Tina held it away from her. "What are you going to say?"
"You’re the one who said she’s always trying to get you hooked up," Bette argued. "This will be me telling her to stop doing that, because you are now duly occupied."
"You tell me what you’d like to say, and I’ll vet it before it actually gets sent," Tina offered the compromise.
"Say ‘We haven’t gotten out of bed yet. I’ll let you know when the date’s over’," Bette said.
"I’m not saying that to her! I’d never hear the end of it."

    1. Thanksgiving was lovely but not as lovely as the weekend Bette and Tina are having! Who could be board? Enjoy your belated holiday celebration. I’m thankful that you’re writing again!

    2. Okay….great pun. Intended or unintended?”I’m going to give you a new appreciation for the concept of FRICTION.””It’s seeming like A STROKE of genius for me to be dating a physicist,” Bette said.

    3. Ooops, wasn’t finished with my comment, don’t know what happened. Anyway, their dialogue is by far the most adult, straight-forward conversation there could ever be between mature lovers that have not been together that long. It makes all the sense in the world, really love it. Thank you.

    4. “I’m going to give you a new appreciation for the concept of friction.” I can only imagine. Seven weeks in Toronto, then L.A. This story could go on and on and on. Just the thought of that makes me happy. Thanks Swimmie.
