    It was mid-afternoon before they had both woken up and dressed.     It was mid-afternoon before they had both woken up and dressed. London was cold but sunny allowing them a walk along the Embankment holding hands and talking they had a final dinner in the hotel before finishing their packing and heading to the airport for their flight home. Tina was someone who found it very easy to sleep on long plane journeys and it didn’t take her long before she covered herself in a blanket and dropped off. Beside her Bette read her kindle between looking at the beautiful blonde who she knew she loved with a passion that scared and delighted her in equal measures. Their future would be together and that gave her a feeling of security. By the time Tina woke up again Bette had fallen asleep holding her Kindle – Tina carefully took the device from Bette’s hand and after checking the battery she took a charger from her bag and plugged it into her netbook that was lying untouched in front of her. That done she rested her head on Bette’s arm and nodded off again.

    “There is a delay –our bags are still on the plane – it might be a couple of hours “ Bette said walking back to Tina as they stood at the carousel at LAX.
    “Of course because a 20 hour flight wasn’t enough “
    “Are you okay ?”
    “Actually –not bad but I don’t think it will last. It will hit me sooner or later – I must have slept for at least half the flight”
    “You did – so did I actually. It will just take us a few days to get over the jet lag”
    “Let go and have a coffee “
    “Okay – I am not sure American airport coffee is going to be up the coffee we have drunk in Italy”
    Bette smiled “ You and I need to do some shopping for a really expensive coffee machine – it might be the only way we survive”
    “We should have ordered one in Rome – we saw some awesome ones”
    “That’s what the internet is for “ Bette reminded her
    “True – so until it arrives we will just have to get used to crappy coffee – and there are few things crappier than LAX coffee “
    “You know how to romance a lady “ Bette joked taking Tina’s hand
    They found a table that was clean and fairly quiet. Bette took a sip at the coffee and pulled a face.
    “You are right – that is nasty”
    Tina sipped and nodded “ Yeah “ she sighed and looked at the brunette “I guess this brings us back to earth – we aren’t in Italy or France or England any more – we are back in the US of A – and we have to face reality”
    “The reality we have been putting off facing for two months “
    “Yeah”
    Bette took the blonde’s hand and kissed it tenderly “Do you have any regrets ?”
    “Hell no – not a single one. Do you ?”
    “I love you so much – I don’t regret anything” Bette said with honesty “ Not a single solitary second of the last two months “
    Bette took another drink of her coffee looked around the café – everything was so different now and they were going to have to face reality.
    “I have been trying to find the words to tell my two mom’s and my dad. “ Tina admitted
    “Have you come up with any ?”
    Tina exhaled “ I am just going to tell them the truth – you and I only met two months ago in Italy – fell so utterly in love and we got married a week ago – that’s all we can tell them – the truth. I know we are going to have to face some questions and some accusations that we have lost our minds but screw them – screw them all – we love each other. I love you like I never loved anyone. I know you and I have a connection that is so unique. I don’t regret marrying you Bette”
