Chapter two

Today would be the most beautiful day in Bette en Tina’s lives. Today was the day they would get married. The ceremony would have place in their backyard. It was beautifully decorated, with flowers everywhere. They invited all their friends and family to LA and everybody’s heart was filled with love and happiness for the soon-to-be-wed couple. They all seemed very nervous, except for Bette and Tina themselves. They were getting ready in separate rooms, they didn’t want to curse their marriage with bad luck, both excited but calm. They knew everything would go just fine, as long as they had each other, there was nothing they couldn’t survive. Bette wore a white powersuit with a white shirt, formal but very *****. Bette knew Tina loved seeing her in a powersuit, she thought it made Bette look strong and confident and especially hot. Bette smiled widely at the thought of Tina, which was not unnoticed by her best friend from high school.
Eve: “Hey Bette, what’s the big smile for? Are you that happy you’re getting married? Most people are extremely nervous when they are about to take such a big decision.”
Bette: “I was just thinking about Tina. God I love that woman. I’m so lucky to have found someone like her. She’s just perfect.”
Eve: “Nobody is perfect Bette. Don’t forget that.”
Bette: “I know. She may have some flaws, but I love her even more because of them. She’s perfect in the way that I would never want to change anything about her. I just love her for who she is, not what she might be.”
Eve: “You really found true love Bette. I can see that know.”
Bette: “Thanks Eve. Thanks for being her too.”
Eve: “No problem Bette. You know I wouldn’t want to miss this for the world. Bette Porter is getting married. Who would have thought?”
Bette: “I certainly wouldn’t.”
Eve: “I guess you just need to find the right person to get married with.”
Bette: “That I certainly did.”

While Bette was getting prepared in one bedroom, Tina was in the other one. She was wearing a simple white dress. She looked like a nymph, cute but *****. Alice was putting the last touches of make-up on Tina and looked at her satisfied.
Alice: “I see my work is finished here. How are you feeling?”
Tina: “Good actually. I’m excited but not nervous. I love Bette and I know I’m doing the right thing marrying her.”
Alice: “You guys really are in love. I’m so happy for you T.”
Tina: “Thanks Al. We should get going, we don’t want to keep my wife waiting now, do we?”
They smiled at each other and went outside. Bette was already standing next to the priest, waiting for her. Tina’s father led her towards Bette. ‘God she is beautiful. I can’t believe this is actually happening.’ Tina kissed her father on the cheek and he went back to his seat.
Priest: “Dearly beloved. We are gathered here today to join these two women in holy matrimony. Now before I continue, is there anyone here who feels that these two should net get married? Speak now or forever hold your peace.”
The priest waited for ten seconds before continuing the ceremony.
Priest: “Bette, you may read your vowels.”
Bette: “Thank you. Tina, meeting you was like a gift from heaven. I will always remember that first day. You had me under your spell from the moment I laid eyes on you. I’ve never seen anyone as beautiful as you T. As beautiful as you are on the outside; I was even more overwhelmed by your inner beauty. It was your outer beauty that pulled me to you, but it was your inner beauty that made me love you. You truly have a heart of gold T and I’m so happy that I can be a part of it. You are my strength when I am weak, my cure when I am hurt, my eyes when I can’t see, my comfort when I am scared, my light when all hope seems gone. I could easily die for you T, because you are my life. You are everything I always wanted and there is nothing else I’ll ever need if you’re around. I want us to grow old together, I want you to be the last thing I see before I fall asleep so I can dream about you. I want to wake up next to you every day for the rest of my life. I promise to protect you, cherish you, love you, in this life and in the next. If I would come to die before you, my spirit would still be with you. I will never abandon you T, for you are my reason to live.”
A tear ran down Tina’s cheek and she smiled at Bette. Bette took her ring and looked at Tina.
Bette: “Whit this ring, a symbol of our love and trust, I wed you T.”
Bette slid the wedding ring on Tina’s ring finger and her eyes smiled widely at Tina.
Tina: “Bette, I never thought I would find somebody like you. You fulfill me in ways I can’t even completely understand. Your presence alone takes all my fears and doubts away. I never want to be without you, I think I would die of a broken heart. You have my heart Bette, I gave it to you when you said you loved me, and I will never ask it back. It belongs to you now. I love you for the person you are Bette, my best friend, my lover, my soul mate and soon you will also be my wife. When I think I finally figured you out, you do something completely unexpected and I fall in love with you all over again. You have given me so much Bette. I trust you with my entire being. I would trade my whole life to be in your arms for just one day, because it is the only place I truly feel safe. I would rather spend one day with you, the love of my life, than spend a lifetime without ever experiencing this deep love that we share. I will love you and support you, in sickness and in health, in poverty and in wealth, no matter what happens, I will be there for you like I have been, from this day forward till the end of times.”
Tina took the ring in her one hand and gently grabbed Bette’s hand with the other one.
Tina: “Whit this ring, a symbol of our love and trust, I wed you Bette.”
Tina slid the wedding ring on Bette’s finger and squeezed her hand gently.
Priest: “In the eyes of God and the people here present, I now pronounce you wife and wife. You may kiss each other.”
Bette and Tina smiled at each other, gently leaned forward and shared a soft but sensual and loving kiss.

Everybody was sitting outside, enjoying their dinner, when suddenly Alice rose from her seat and gently tapped against her glass with a spoon.
Alice: “Everyone, I would like to make a toast to Bette and Tina. They are the best friends a girl can have and I would like to wish them lots of love, trust and good luck, but I don’t think they’ll really need it. They are, without a doubt, the most loving and caring couple I have ever seen. To the happy couple!”
Everybody, while raising their glasses: “To the happy couple!”
Bette and Tina smiled at each other and kissed. They returned to their dinner and not to long afterwards everyone was dancing and having fun. Bette and Tina didn’t leave each other’s sight during the whole day and when night came, they danced under the stars. They were both at ease and content, their lives just couldn’t get any better. The song changed to a slow song and Tina wrapped her arms around Bette’s neck, resting her head on Bette’s shoulder. Bette held Tina at her waist and kissed her softly on the back of her neck.
Tina: “Bette?”
Bette: “Yes T.”
Tina: “I love you.”
Bette smiled and raised Tina’s head before she spoke.
Bette: “I love you too T. I will always love you.”
She gently brushed her lips past Tina’s and planted a soft kiss on Tina’s nose.
Bette: “Are you all packed and ready for tomorrow?”
Tina: “Yes. I can’t wait to get in that plane with you and go on our honeymoon.”
Bette: “I know T, neither can I. I can’t believe this is really happening. It al just seems like a beautiful dream.”
Tina: “Believe me baby, it’s real.”
Bette: “I just love you so much, that’s all.”
Tina: “You really are sweet, you know that?”
Bette: “Am I? I guess that’s the way people act when they find the woman of their dreams.”
Tina: “And who might that be?”
Bette: “Hmm, let me think… You!”
They both laughed and kissed again, this time a little longer than before. They spend the rest of the night just laying in each other’s arms, simply enjoying each other’s presence, not knowing what tomorrow would bring but knowing that whatever would come to face them, they would face it together.
