    Savannah – Amber Eyes

In the tree, by chance, the pure multitude of branches actually saved the cub. They slowed his fall  and directed him inwards towards the trunk and eventually to the ground, where he landed awkwardly on his feet, hitting the rock between two big roots.
He stayed there momentarily, collapsed and dazed before pulling himself up onto his haunches.
"It’s ok..baby, he made it." Bette said in a relieved breath bringing her hand to Tina’s back to rub it in comfort.
Tina reopened her eyes to see the young male emerging from under the tree. She turned towards Bette and took her into a tight hold. She evidently was shaken by the cat’s near miss.
Bette could feel Tina tremble as she held her.
"Promise me something, Bette.." the blonde asked with sobs in her voice, "Say, you will promise!"
Bette held her wife tighter, sensing the urgency and emotion in her voice, "Of course, Tina…" she whispered reassuringly, "Always….but what is it you want me to promise?"
Tina withdrew from their hug slowly, wiping fallen tears from her cheeks before looking in her wife’s eyes. She reached for Bette’s hand which she kissed before placing it on her stomach, directly onto her warm skin below her t-shirt.
"Promise me," Tina started her voice wavering with emotion still, her heart beating wildly, her eyes firmly fixed into Bette’s, "Promise me you will always look out for our baby.."
Bette blinked a couple of times before redirecting her eyes to her hand and where her hand was placed.
Tina smiled through her still falling tears when Bette’s inquisitive eyes made contact with her again.
"Our baby, sweetheart…" Tina whispered softly.
A tentative smile appeared on Bette’s lips. She thought she understood what Tina was saying to her but she needed clarification.
It was her heart’s turn to start beating erratically, "Tina, darling…. are you?" she suspended her question, seeing the answer, in the form of a bright smile, that she had guessed correctly paint itself on her wife’s face.
Tina nodded, letting out a sniffle and then a little laugh.
"Oh my God… a baby… we are having a baby!!!" To her greatest surprise, it was Bette’s turn to shriek but for an entire different reason this time. She leaned forward cradling her wife’s face carefully before kissing her lips delicately. "You are the most precious being on this planet… I love you so much."
Tina was grinning in the kiss they shared, still unable to speak but so unbelievably happy to see the joy on her wife’s face.
Bette parted abruptly. "Oh my God… we have so much we need to do. We need to turn the spare room into a nursery; we need to get a cot, clothes, toys. We need to decide on a name. I wonder if it’ll be a boy or a girl. There are so many names to choose fr—"
"Bette!" Tina laughed. "Sweetheart….. Calm down." she continued looking at the frantic look on her wife’s face. She took the vet’s hands in hers, kissing the back of them.  "I’m not about to give birth now. We have nine month, you know, to savour this and get organised and hopefully become the best mothers in the world… just like her out there."
Tina looked back over her shoulder. The rain had stopped and the sun had made an appearance bringing with it a perfect arc of a rainbow.
The lioness had got up together with Bahiya and had made her way to the bedraggled cub. A gentle head rub and a lick from an enormous tongue on dishevelled fur reassured the mother her offspring was alright and well.
"She is so good with them.." Bette agreed watching wistfully as the older female gathered her brood and led the way to some unknown destination.
"All we can do is try.." Tina offered bringing her lips to the brunette’s for a slow, languid kiss. "And I will love trying with you.."
It was completely quiet around them bar the sound of one last lion roar, as the three cats headed towards the horizon, heads held high, sun glinting in their amber eyes.

    1. Thank you for the update and for understanding that we all simply love this story about the vet and her lovely wife in Africa. Yes, we look forward to visiting them from time to time with the windows you create for us with your incredible writing. You write brilliantly… please keep it going.

    2. I have enjoyed your story and writing so much. It is lyrical. Please return when you can. You and your writing will be missed as you go on a small (hopefully) hiatus.

    3. Bioutifoul!!! As always… Let’s just say that “La boucle est bouclee” Starts and ends with the cubs, and a whole new cub in the making… Can’t wait for that 2nd sequel (some day) where you’ll come back with that little addition to the family who will stroll in the Savannah and learn all there is to learn from Mama Bette about the wildness. (Sorry about this cinematographic reference but as I’m writing this, I can’t help but think about the beginning of “Crocodile Dundee III” and little Mickey… Yeah, I know!). Anyway, thank you so much for this! And oh God, I so have to reply to that sms of yours, darling! ;) Kisses, Kw

    4. Have I ever told you how thankful I am that you decided to share your talents with us. If I didn’t…then “THANK YOU”. I will gladly read anything you write. Peace, T.

    5. Wonderful sequel. Lady you really do know how to write a story that tugs at the heart strings from beginning to end. Every chapter you have written has touched me one way or another with the care, respect for each character and loving spirit with which you have embued the story. We love that you like to visit the ladies from time to time and we will be waiting when you return shortly (hopefully.) Thank you so much.

    6. Sad to see this one end, again, but hopefully we will revisit again, when the baby is due. But I hope that it will not literally be nine months, we could speed up time in FF Land. Maybe in nine weeks or better yet nine days, Just kidding, but I hope we get to see the Vet and her wife soon, along with their offspring.

    7. Wow Kins!!:-) thanks for a wonderful epilogue … The story of Tina with the pregnancy test is so touching! :-) the desperation and despair when she thought its negative is so palpable.. I almost cry. honestly… I thought you will bring the baby on your future installment! But hey! What a joyfull moment!! ;-) and the way she share the news with Bette is so extraordinary and it’s in the sweet way of course :-) and I was LMAO on Bette’s panic reaction :-D …. Hahaha … Anyway Kins, good luck for your project, you’ll be missed for sure.. I hope your small hiatus means not too long for me too :o)x ….. uhmm… And I hope whatever detoxification you took will never ever clear them from your systems :-p lol pardon me for this, but trust me it’s doing more good than not so good thing ;-) and it brings abundance of happiness to your fans when reading your stories :-) so please maintain the Tibette addiction ;-) hehe.. Cheers!:-)
