“Save the Last Dance For Me”

Moving slowly, Tina climbed into bed with her lover, her life, and her wife.  The feel of gentle kisses peppering her face roused Bette from a restless sleep.  As Bette opened her eyes, Tina shifted to her elbow and continued her mission of coaxing Bette from sleep using both feather light kisses and caresses.   Bette’s features began to soften and a smile graced her lips.  “T?” she whispered softly into the night.  “Yes baby, it’s me,” Tina replied. “Where have you been?” Bette asked excitedly.  “I’ve been waiting for you,” replied Tina as she brushed an unruly brown curl back behind Bette’s ear.   “I told you that I would wait for you forever Bette.  Then when you called out to me tonight, I knew that it was time.”

Bette sat up in bed and gazed into the hazel eyes that haunted her very soul; she then lifted her hand and touched Tina’s long flowing blonde hair.  Bringing her trembling fingers to Tina’s face she whispered, “I’ve missed you so much T.”  Tina smiled as a tear slipped from Bette’s eye.  “Hey baby, do you know what today is?  Tina asked quietly.  “Of course I do T, it’s our anniversary.   I’m just glad that you remembered it,” Bette added laughing softly.  A tear slipped from Tina’s eye and began a silent descent down her beautiful alabaster face.  Using her thumb, Bette caught the lone tear from Tina’s face.  “God I love you so much Tina, each day I love you more than the day before.  Bette pulled Tina to her and their tongues began a gentle dance which had been perfected over their years together.  “You feel so good,” Bette sighed softly.  “Here baby, this is for you,” Tina whispered as she handed Bette a single red rose.  Bette held the flower to her nose and breathed the sweet smell of what had always been her favorite flower.

Tina stood up slowly from the bed and extended her hands to Bette.  “Come dance with me my love.”  Bette laid the rose down and struggled to stand fighting off the grogginess that still enveloped her.  Soon she found herself wrapped in the arms of the woman that so many times had saved her from herself.  The feel of their bodies pressed together caused the women to rejoice in the feeling of wholeness that only the other one offered.  Tina began to gently guide Bette out into their backyard where the sound of soft music seemed to totally surround them.  “Do you remember this song Bette? It ‘s our song.”  Tina gathered her into her arms and began to sway gently.  Soon the rhythm of the lovers took over and their movements became synchronized.  Bette smiled softly with slow recognition as the song registered with her. “I had almost forgotten this song Tina.  I have not heard it in ages,” Bette said as the memories flooded her mind.  “I never forgot though what the song means to us though.”  Tina began to sing softly into Bette’s ear …

    2. Oh, god, what have you done with me… I’m falling into pieces reading this four pages of absolute beauty and sadness, crying all the most painful tears out of my soul and heart… It brang both the best and the worst thoughts in me, right now, for I cannot imagine more beautiful death then going away with the love of your life forever, but at the same time I know I will never be graced by anything else but a lonely death after a lifetime of one-sided love…What have you done with me… I cannot stop crying, I feel dispair and a huge, deep pain, far from this powerful piece of art you wrote here… Right from the first lines I knew – and I also knew I shouldn’t read more, but the way to resist to such a beautiful work ? That’s what I call a masterpiece, dear author, but also a heart-breaker. Please come back to the site, continue your marvellous Lover’s lapse one day, will you ? I never forgot. Thank you for these four pages : even paying the high depressive price reading them, I recognize true beauty when I see it – and you created a marvellous dark jewel…
