    Chapter 18

“She left me, she left me,” Alice kept repeating through sobs when she was done telling Shane everything. The story didn’t make a lot of sense. Dana came home last night and just told Alice it was to hard, she couldn’t do it and she was breaking up with her. Alice had asked brokenly if she was leaving her for Lara, and Dana had coldly replied ‘No’. Alice was a wreck. Probably more so then if Dana had said she was leaving her for Lara.

Al stayed at Jenny and Shane’s for two nights, trapping herself in the studio and only coming out for lunch and dinner she slept the rest of the time. On the third day, Shane went to break her out.

“Alice- Alice listen to me. Your not going to sit and rot in here. First we’re going to find out why Dana said those things-” Alice looked like she was going to interrupted and Shane put up a hand while pulling her feet out from under the covers, “She loves you Alice. Did she once say she didn’t? Cause she couldn’t. She’s just being Dana. Something’s wrong inside her head and it doesn’t have anything to do with you.”

    “Shane I-”

“I’m not going to let you two ***** it up-” Shane whispered hoarsely, her voice sounding hurt and angry but still calm. Alice pursed her lips and held back her tears. There was nothing she could say, and nothing she wanted to say.

“Okay,” was all she said before Shane threw the clothes in her hand at Alice and left her to change.

Alice showed up in the kitchen a few minutes later. It was the first breakfast she had been up in time for in days. Jenny smiled and slung her bag over her shoulder tiredly. She winced and a hand instinctively shot to her forehead to rub at a migraine.

Carmen clucked her tongue sympathetically at her, and rubbed her back, “Shh, you need to change these hours chica, your going to kill yourself.”

“I’m fine, Carmen. Don’t worry, I just need a few more week’s before I can get a day job,” Jenny plastered a smile on her face that was completely sincere and wrapped an arm around Carmen’s neck, leaning her head on her shoulder and closing her eyes with a yawn.
