    Six Months – chapter re-edited

    ***

When the Kennard-Porter household emerged from isolation and rejoined civilization Tina flew to New York to sign the legal papers to get on the payroll at Focus Features. She’d accepted the offer as Head of Production with no qualms as the studio’s evolved culture was a far cry from the Neanderthal one she’d left behind at Shaolin.

Focus Features was a multi-billion-dollar production, marketing and distribution enterprise. Having the multi-divisions of the studio under one umbrella allowed for full control while operating independently to avoid conflict of interest. This business model was appealing because it gave Tina the opportunity to expand her horizons outside of just production without having to change employer.

They also had in-house labs so the theft of negatives or any digital property no matter how brilliant the scheme would never have occurred. If they’d owned the rights to Lez Girls, the movie would have been managed by Focus Features from start to finish. Tina could have left the drama to the script writers rather than living it. There would be no battles with outside marketing and distributors known to hijack a production to please special interest as was the case with Shaolin.

That wasn’t to say that everything presented was green-lighted. Each project was evaluated on its own merit. In some cases, the marketing team did test in places like Peoria and on occasion came back with feedback that required the production team to rework some of their content. But it was all based on legitimate research with above board intensions and no hidden agenda.

As soon as the ink was dry on Tina’s contract with Focus Features, she put out feelers in Hollywood to build her NYC crew. She naturally went after the best talent in the business which meant reuniting with Film Editor Sam Makavejev and her former assistant Sally Butler both of whom were thrilled to leave Shaolin and follow Tina to New York.

Tina was also excited to learn from Sam and Sally that Kate Arden was back in New York and anxious to reconnect on a few potential projects. Kate had been Tina’s choice to direct Lez Girls until Jenny came back from Mexico with her billionaire financier William Halsey who insisted that Jenny do it, only to have it hijacked by Adele Channing. The bookish personal assistant had blackmailed the studio into having her direct the movie or else expose the lesbian affair between Jenny and the movie’s leading actress Nikki Stevens who was purported to be straight. In Hollywood illusion was everything. Nobody cared what people did in private, but they had to maintain a marketable public image. Although Lez Girls was a movie about lesbians, homophobia was alive and well in the mainstream.

    1. Hi BAT2012,

I am so happy you returned with this story!

The edited version is well written, a lot of information about their family and what happend in the last six months.

Glad they set boundaries to their friends, especially Alice, about their privacy and not barging in whenever they wanted.

It’s sweet to read how Logan and Angie have bonded and how Angie read to Logan out of the books Bette let James find for her 10 years ago. And i love Bette as a mother!

They are ready for their move to NY and i can’t wait to read about that.

      • Thank you Bibi28, glad to be back.

Agree, Bette and Tina setting boundaries and putting themselves and their family first is very necessary for the success of their ‘marriage’. Logan is a bright spot in all of their lives and now the little family is complete. Except I might need to add a puppy once they move to New York.

The next chapter (13) is also a re-write from a previously posted version but I think it needed work, so hopefully you’ll agree with the changes. I’ll post it later this evening.

Thank you for reading and commenting, really love your engagement with the stories on this site. It’s what keeps us going! Take Care.

    2. I agree with all Bibi writes. As a mom this just tugs at my heart strings. I am so happy for Tina. She’s a great mom. I am thrilled for Angie. Already the protective big sister. But I am ecstatic for Bette. This seriously makes her world complete. And Logan? He will never want for love. A complete and beautiful family. So glad you are back with this. Welcome little Logan!

      • Thank you Billy.

I have left it hanging for too long but glad to be back. Logan is very lucky to have this wonderful family and they are lucky to have him. The ‘REAL’ Bette and Tina were meant to have at least two kids and I think they were destined for it after season 6 of the OG, so not sure why they did the whole Marci standing them up storyline. Glad you like the direction I decided to take.

I read your comments on another story, that you haven’t been well. I wish you good health and a speedy recovery. Awaiting the next chapters of your stories when you’re ready. Take Care.

    3. Hey BAT,

Great to see you back in the saddle with this story update.

So glad that they are a happy couple, deeply in love and finally have the entire complete family they have longed for for so long.

Like Bibi said, so nice to read that Tina and Bette had a serious convo between them & decided to put their family & their happiness first in their lives & not allow the interference from their friends? impact their lives.
I absolutely hated that in OG – all the interference & rude interruptions from Alice & the others.

You present both women as great moms, Tina being a little more of the task master when it comes to following the rules they have established. But both ladies loving their kids with all their hearts.

Glad they are still going to NYC & Tina will get her chance to shine in her new career position. Looking forward to more updates – actually the one you’ve already posted!!!!!

      Thanks my friend.

      • Hey Collins.

Thank you. It’s good to be back writing this story.

Bette and Tina are in a really good place as a couple and with the kids. I almost regret bringing the Jenny, Jodi, Kelly conflict into the story but now I need to ride it out. I’m anxious to get through that and have them start their family focused new lives in New York and also balancing their careers..

I didn’t mean for Tina to sound like a ‘task-master’ just setting boundaries for the kids and giving them discipline so they don’t end up like spoiled brat GQ Angie. Bette was wobbling a little having Logan sleep in his room but she’s totally on board with Tina and doing what’s best for the kids. No one wants a clingy kid that is so attached they can’t leave him.

Chapter 13 is a repost. I’ve made some updates, and moved some things around in future chapters but I’ve got a few written so will try to post often.

Hope DOH is coming along, and look forward to reading your updates. Take Care.
