(Time skip. Two years in the future. Tina has started Metropolis University but changed her degree to Journalism. Alice is also in her class. Kate is studying Astronomy. She has yet to tell Tina her feelings. Tina is beginning to feel the burden that is approaching but has no choice to embrace her destiny. Cut to cafeteria. Tina is setting near the window farthest from the door.)

Bette: Hey Tina

Tina: (Startled) Bette hi, I didn’t hear you come in

Bette: Well unless you have superhearing I highly doubt you would have

(Bette Porter was Alice’s cousin who had a better reporter’s instinct than her cousin. Tina and Bette had quickly become friends but they knew that there was an attraction between them. An attraction that was becoming hard to ignore)

Tina: Yeah have you done your article yet?

Bette: Yeah

(Bette pulls the article from her backpack. Freaks or victims: Smallville’s meteor mysteries. Tina flinches at the title. She had dealt with plenty of meteor ‘freaks’ during her time at Smallville High and knew that her weakness was responsible for these people becoming monsters. Kryptonite.)

Tina: You did an article on my home town?

Bette: Yeah, these meteor freaks interest me

Tina: Just be careful

Bette: I know the risks Smallville

Tina: No you don’t; these people are dangerous and they will use any means necessary to get to me

Bette: Why would they want to get to you?

Tina: It’s doesn’t matter but just promise me that you’ll be careful

Bette: (Kisses Tina on the cheek) I promise

(Tina is flustered and surprised by Bette’s show of affection but does not complain.)

Bette: You’re a strange one Tina Kennard

Tina: Thanks

Bette: It kinda works for you

Tina: Just like that killer smile and gorgeous face works for you

Bette: Are you flirting with me?

Tina: Me? Never

Bette: Do you wanna grab a pizza and rent a movie tonight?

Tina: Sure

Bette: Good cos I’ve kinda missed our roomie movie nights

Tina: I have too

Bette: The pizza or the company?

Tina: Definitely the pizza

Bette: Charmin; I’ve missed you too Smallville

(The affection between the two was obvious to anyone who looked at them. Alice and Kate enter the cafeteria and see Bette and Tina at the usual table. Alice could see that Bette and Tina were destined for each other even if they didn’t know it yet)
