    Connection. chapter 5 of 5

    "I’m just saying Bette, no one has seen either of you for weeks," Alice said as she leaned the kitchen chair back to rest against the wall.

     

    "Well, we’ve hardly seen each other at all either," Bette replied. "It’s not that we’re spending all our time together at the expense of time with friends; we are both working too much."

     

    "Are you doing anything to improve the situation?" Alice asked.

     

    "As a matter of fact I am," Bette said with a smile. "Tina doesn’t know it yet, but I hired someone part time at the gallery. I’ll handle all the scheduled client meetings, and deal with artists, but day-to-day interactions with walk in clients will be the responsibility of Helen and James."

     

    "That should free up quite a bit of your time," Alice commented.

     

    "Sundays will be totally ours," Bette said smugly. "I used to make myself available any day of the week, but it’s not fair to either one of us, and it wasn’t an advantage in terms of business. Clients saw that they didn’t have to accommodate my schedule at all, so they didn’t."

     

    They both heard the front door open at the same time, followed in quick succession by the sound of Tina’s voice.

     

    "I hope you’re less that a minute from naked Bette, because I’ve been thinking about you all the way home," Tina called out once the front door was closed.

     

    "Tina, Alice is here," Bette called back, while shrugging her shoulders in Alice’s direction.

     

    Tina walked through the archway and into the kitchen.

     

    "Sorry Al," she said. "Didn’t see your car."

     

    "No problem Tina," Alice replied with a smile. "Bette said she wasn’t expecting you back until three this afternoon."

     

    "I was able to get away earlier than I thought," Tina said as she pulled a chair out and joined them at the table.

     

    "Well, it does sound like you two have some catching up to do," Alice said as she tilted her chair back to mother earth. "I’m going to make a graceful exit and let you become reacquainted."

     

    "Thanks for lunch today," Bette said as she stood to show Alice to the front door.

Ahh i loved this and i wouldnt worry about lack of drama theres plenty of that going around of which im also enjoying but it has to be said that sometimes its nice to just have everday life with no real drama its relaxeing and much needed so thankyou and when you get your groove back into another story we will be waiting!

As far as the Ferris Bueller comment – not everyone here is a youngster – topic ideas are hard to come by – but, whatever you come up with I am sure will be fantastic – and I appreciate the break from drama and angst right now. I am trying to gear my self up for lots of that in S3 :( S2 just about killed me. FanFic revived me :)
