SOMETHING SO RIGHT
Chapter 52
Bette opened her eyes and looked at the ceiling. She took a few seconds to get her bearings – she was in Tina’s bed at her parents farm in South Carolina. So far Bette thought that she was doing well with the Kennard’s – yes so Sarah didn’t like her but the rest of the family clearly did and in time Bette’s charm would win the older woman over. Bette knew that Tina had got out of bed about 2 hours ago. Bette had wanted to sleep and after she had watched Tina collect her towel and leave the room she had fallen asleep again.
It took Bette twenty minutes to shower and dress. She headed downstairs – the house was quiet so Bette strolled into the kitchen and started making herself some coffee. She strolled around the kitchen looking in cupboards and hunting out where the bread bin was. She fixed herself some toast and was just helping herself to some jam when Sarah came through. She was carrying a pen and a calculator
“Morning “ Bette said smiling
“Hello – is the country air making you sleepy ?”
“Totally and your cooking from last night “
“I am just making some proper coffee if you would like one “
“Well I just fixed myself instant but I won’t say no “
“Are you a coffee snob like Tina ?”
“Its one of the things we joke that we have in common “
Sarah smiled and got on with getting the percolator out. Bette carried on eating her toast and watching Tina’s mother moving around the room
“Has it crossed your mind that Carol is over egging what Brenda told her ?” Bette asked after there had been a silence between them for five minutes. Sarah put two coffee cups on the table and after a few more seconds she brought the freshly brewed coffee to the table.
“Yes – Niall has been onto me about it and he is right – Carol is not the most accurate witness and Brenda is not above stretching the truth as well “
“If you knew that “
“You mean if I knew that why did I give you a hard time ?”

I do love this story and I love how the girls are ineracting and the family with them except, of course, Sarah. Please forgive me for my opnions about Sarah but, in my opinion Sarah is a whore, plain and simple. Free love and hippie stuff aside, to not have outgrown and matured, her need to bed every man she comes into contact with is simply “lady of the evening” or world’s oldest profession behavior. She is not setting a very good example for her children and she is certainly not being a lady, nor acting like a responsible woman with three childrem. She and Niall should stop their behavior. I do not fault Tina and her opinions of either of them.
Tina is really something, I can only imagine how hot she is ridding a horse, I liked this chapter a lot Ally, where have you been, we totally missed you, thank you for posting. Love

Wow, things on the farm just seem to be getting more and more complicated. Maybe Bette and Tina should just retire back to city life and leave all of the farm drama behind. Boundaries….that’s all i’ll say about Tina’s moms choice in lovers….her daughters ex…..please. Thnaks for the great update, pps!
Sarah does seem to have some issues. I think maybe she needs to realize what she does impacts her children; screwing one of your children’s exes is never ok. It seems that Niall’s on-again off-again with the same woman has allowed him a more discreet ability. I hope Bette can be there to let Tina work things out without giving herself doubts about Tina’s love for her.
Glad Tina’s mom is finally giving Bette a chance, but she needs to do som e serious thinking into her behavior with the hired help! PPS
Sarah is way too out there for me. Her lifestyle hurts her kids but she doesn’t even own up to it. It would be one thing to say, as adults this is what we do, although we know it has had negative consequences for our kids. Plus, why can’t she fuck someone who hasn’t fucked her kid? So skeevy. I don’t care if I had no feelings for someone anymore.. the thought of my Mom bedding an ex would disgust me to know end. Poor Bette and Tina..things were easier in LA.
bette is right, teenagers so want to be ‘normal’ and want their parents to be the same. its a wonder tina is as well-adjusted as she is. i can understand her irritation with her mom having it off with her ex, its kind of invasive of tina’s privacy and even desperately immature. pps
catching up
GREAT chapter Ally, but I think that Tina should let it go. Once she has accepted her parents lifestyle (which she should because we all have a right to make lifestyle choices for ourselves), the details really don’t matter. Whatever else her parents did, they provided a safe, loving and nurishing home for them to grow up and trieve in. It apparently works for them. It is also hippocritical of Tina to ignore her fathers action, while seeking to punish her mother for he actions. I think Bette may have seen Tina ride something better than her hand– LOL.
Things get more and more complicated as we go along. Parents and children seem to always have different opinions on at least one matter or another and they either agree to disagree, or they continue as they are doing. Maybe Tina can move past this and get on with her life. Post again soon. Thanks!!!

So is it that Mom’s a cougar that bothers Tina so much or is it that her current ‘project’ is one of Tina’s ex-boyfriends? Thought Tina left all that behind, but evidently the one lesson Tina failed to learn from her ‘rents is how to go with the flow. But then I guess it’s all about Tina. Tina better lighten up on the horseback riding too. Bette’s a rookie and sure to be sore in some very tender places.

And.. well.. don’t know why but I just enjoyed a lot this chap.. it was a funny thing to picture Bette on the horse and a really really nice thing to picture Tina as a cowboy!!! *drool*. Glad to see Sarah coming out.. but Tina’s ex?? What’s up with her? I’m with beachlife, I think Tina and Sarah need to talk! Hope you are feeling better! *Hug*
Tina’s mom has no boundaries at all. being with tina’s ex… that bug me… tina and her mom need to talk. i’m glad bette and tina’s mom are starting over again. had a good laugh at bette struggle to get on fred with tina,lol…love how you don’t rush this visit how with tina’s folks, we get a good sense of the kennards!:)PPS

Hippie or not shouldn’t there be some boundaries? I think Sarah needs to realize how she is hurting her children and how desperate she is looking. I’m glad that Sarah and Bette are starting over. Thanks for posting!
It is hard to see where our judgmental starts and ends. We argue with people to leave us alone, to let us love whom we want because it is not hurting anyone. At the same page, we expect so much more from people we love and know. I don’t necessarily agree with open marriage, but who are we to judge to say what is right with other people’s relationship. Isn’t that what the rest of the world is doing to us?
