    Soul Singing – Part One

As a successful musician, Alice Pieszecke was fully aware of the benefits of being rich and famous. The money was great – she owned a large estate in London and an apartment in New York, along with her LA penthouse which she called home. Her group of friends was largely made up of influential and wild musicians and actors, which definitely wasn’t something to sneer at (especially when in the mood to party), and Al could have her pick of any hottie, male or female, this side of Soho. So on this particular Saturday night, as she sat in the lounge room of her penthouse, with Sleater-Kinney blaring from her massive stereo, Alice wasn’t sure why it didn’t all feel right. She had lived this lifestyle for the past six or so years, since her band Stereo-Hart’s first record rocketed through the charts, and not once in those six years had this feeling been so strong. As if something was missing.

It wasn’t that she was ungrateful for what she had – a not so fantastic childhood in what some would call a slum, meant that Alice woke up every single day thankful for everything in her life. But sitting on her lounge, with nothing but the music and her scruffy dog Charlie, Al felt lonely.

“***** this,” she said aloud to herself, getting off the lounge and moving into her bedroom to change into a pair of worn out jeans, a yellow singlet top and her favourite vintage leather jacket. “I’m going out.”

Driving fast through the streets of LA, Alice had a sudden urge to visit an old part of the city that she hadn’t been to for years. She drove down old streets that suddenly sparked memories from when she was a teenager – the cinema where she had her first romp with Henry Lewis, Annie Derkin’s old house – where Al and Annie got high and made out every Sunday for three months during their final school year, the old music shop where she bought her first guitar. It all came flooding back, and Al suddenly didn’t feel quite so lonely, and wondered why she hadn’t thought to visit this place sooner. She spotted a fluro sign on the street she was driving down, ‘The Planet,’ which looked like the most alive place around, so she decided to stop.

    1. I think I’ve missed some of the latest spoilers and they must be really bad, because all of a sudden there are just so much Danish fluff around. I can’t wait for more of this, great start!

    2. Ok I just notice your stry and I saw you wrote anothers ones so I have to read them. Really that was really sweet and different. Its refreshing. Now I want to see how its leads. Thanks

    3. great start…something different…love the fact that Alice is in a band…wish they would have her perform on the show!!! Can’t wait to see where the story goes from here

    4. OMG I looove this one! Romantic fluff is good and I really like the idea of Alice being a famous musician. My favourite line is Shane’s ‘We’re more surprised Bette knows someone cool than the fact that you’re famous’: she would so say that. I can’t wait to read the next one!
